Too Much Water?

Quote  |  Reply

Ever since i started drinking large amounts of water about a year ago, im always thirsty now. About every 10 min or so i need to take a drink. My mouth always seems parched. I know its not that in not getting enough food either and my sodium intake's not bad. Water is all i drink except for milk in smoothies so i was wondering whether this is bad for my body or if I've somehow tricked it into thinking it needs more water than it really does? Also it's really annoying to have to go pee all the time :(

whats wrong with my body?

if you're parched, and you aren't eating enough - try eating foods that are higher in water content. oranges, grapes, strawberries, cucumber, celery, etc.

i don't see any problem with drinking alot of water. i wish i could do that.

Ask your doctor.  I know that they'll want to check for diabetes as one of the warning signs is being thirsty all the time.  It's far better to check even if there isn't anything wrong with you because if you do have some medical issue it's usually less serious the earlier you catch it.
thats a scary thought smwhipple but i guess its quite possible. i used to eat allot of high sugar foods all the time so that really could have messed me up. thanks for the advice everyone.
unforgotten... this exact thing happened to me a few months ago.. are you just drinking plain water? i was a few eating sugar free hard candies a day and drinking the sugar free crystal light, not a lot- but like 2 on the go packets a day.. and i was CONSTANTLY thirsty.. i started just drinking plain water and got tested for diabetes as a precaution (it was negative) but now i'm back to normal again.. i think its whatever is in the sugar free stuff that increases thirst

Something is wrong if you need to drink something every 10 minutes, unless you're out in extremely high heat doing heavy manual labor.

Definitely go to a doctor.

The symptoms of Diabetes generally include both excessive thirst and an excessive need to urinate.  That doesn't mean that it's not Diabetes but high sugars causing thirst will generally also cause you to have to go to the bathroom.  It also can cause "unexplained" weight loss.

I often find that I am "thirsty" but it's not truly thirst.  My mouth gets very dry because of allergies or the air quality in the facility where I am.  Could it be something as simple as the air is dry where you spend most of your time?

Pam

I've also noticed that with the weather change that my mouth is drier and I feel thirstier even though I've just drunk water.
