I generally drink between 64-120 oz. a day. I used to have such a hard time making myself remember to drink it and plus if you're not in the mood for water, forcing it down can be torture.
i went to Wal Mart and bought this special water bottle (it's shaped like a miniature water cooler) It holds exactly 64 oz or 1/2 a gallon. I fill it in the morning and am usually done by lunch time or a little after . . . i refill it and see how much i can get down before dinner.
I usually have a huge cup of water by my side and instead of getting up and looking for a snack.. I get up for water.
I never liked it at first but I've grown to love it ...
It's my crack .
I, too, have an insulated mug at my desk. It's 20 oz and fill it with water each morning, and make sure I finish it by lunch (take a sip every time I think of it, which is pretty often when you get in the habit). Then fill it again and finish by the time I leave work. That paired with drinking a glass (at least) with each meal (3x per day) is at least 64 oz of water. I also usually drink one during/after my morning workout.
Also by reusing a mug rather than consuming bottles of water you are helping the environment! :) I recommend a metal mug as they impart no taste/harmful chemicals like plastic does.
I am also finding it hard to drink enough water. I like water, but I just don't drink that much.
I think I will try buying a special water bottle also, maybe that will help.
Any more advice would be greatly appreciated.
i work from home so i don't have the same issues as those of you who go out to school or work...however, what i have is a little jar of pretty marbles on the shelf above my sink. every time i have a glass of water i move a marble from the jar to a little dish. seeing them there reminds me to drink my water.
another thing i find helps is to use a pretty crystal tumbler to drink from. it makes drinking the water feel a little more 'special' lol.
these tricks may sound strange, but they help me ![]()
I also bought a very fancy and expensive bottle of mineral water in a glass bottle, I now fill that up three or four times a day, and sterilise it every night with some water from teh kettle.
I personally think water tastes better from a glass bottle.
I also put a dash of either lime or lemon juice in, for a bit of 0 calorie, asphartane free taste :)
thanks for the advice......
my stepson works at a sporting goods store and is going to pick me up a sports water bottle. he says they have "nalgene" and "camelbak".
maybe it will help if i have my own "special" bottle.
Woohoo I'm gonna ressurect this thread! Lol.
I, too, LOVE water and can never seem to get enough! My problem is different, though...
At school, I ALWAYS have to pee! And my teachers won't let me go that often, and besides, it's embrassing to always ask to use the restroom. I can't hold it in that long, but I don't care.
It's not like I'm about to give up drinking my lovely water :) it's more important to me than what my teachers and peers must think about my bathroom habits lol.
Actually, last year some girls in my math class made fun of me because I would always ask to go to the bathroom (it was right after lunch.) It didn't really bother me that much, and I thought it was kind of wierd that someone would actually care enough about another person's bathroom habits to even bother keeping track (that's messed up...) but I think it's funny because in the end one of the girls heard I was going to a rhuematologist because we suspected a autoimmune disease (unrelated to my peeing lol) and she goes to one, too, for fibromyalgia, and after that she stoped giggeling about me under her breath, and started being friends with me. Random I know, but this thread reminded me of that haha.
a good way to drink more water is to bring a large bottle of water around with you and just sip it away all day.
unouno
I used to have the same problem. I actually don't really care for the taste of water all that much unless I'm really parched. I use a Nalgene bottle and fill it with water and the Crystal Light "On the Go" packets or the Ocean Spray packets. They are pretty tasty and I can drink WAY more. I recommend getting a bunch of different flavors and switching it up so your taste buds don't get bored. Good luck!
Water is so plain and boring to me. It makes it hard to drink a lot! Unless I'm at the gym, or I've just gone for a run outside when it's hot and I'm thirsty, my water needs to be flavored. I dump some sugar free flavor packets in it. So those might not be all healthy, but hey... if it gets me to drink more... lol I've tried the "natural" flavoring using fruits and stuff, but all that did was add floaties of seeds and stuff in my glass and no flavor.
I always have a bottle of water with me. I take a certain amount to work (usually 2 full bottles) and make sure to drink both before I leave. I have a full bottle in the morning. I drink a full bottle when I come home. That already equals to 8 glasses. Then I drink more in the evening if I exercise, and drink more with my dinner. I am always refilling my bottles too (we have a water filter).
same thing here: when I started w CC I treated myself to a pretty water bottle that holds about 0.75 l = 26 ounces
I fill it up in the am before hopping on the bus and sip at least half of it until I get off. (13 ounces)
At the gym I fill it up again and have the full bottle until I am done and showered and dressed. (39 ounces)
At work I refill and have the bottle sitting right in front of me. Sipping until lunch (65 ounces)
After lunch I refill and try to finish this one until I leave or at least until I am home, holding the bottle in my hand on the subway if I can. (91 ounces)
At night I don't drink that much more water. Usually another 10 ounces or so, sometimes I treat myself to a diet coke which doesnt really count in I suppose.
So during the day I have 100 ounces and its not pressure... it's just habit and boredrom (how do you spell that?)
This is gonna come as a huge shock to all the water loving people...before I joined CC I used to get by with about a glass of water a day, and in winters I have been known to go for 2-3 days without water!! But now I've changed a lot...make myself drink at least 100 oz a day. Initially it was tough but now I've grown to love it and actually miss it if I've left my water bottles at home. I carry 2 bottles (about 65 oz total) to work and make sure I finish them by the time I leave.
