Water Pills

Quote  |  Reply
Has anyone taken water pills on a regular basis?  If so did they help you at all or did you find them to be a waste of money?

A friend of mine takes them like 3 or 4 times a day and says they help her lose all of her water weight so I bought some last night, just wondering if anyone had any experiences with them they could share.

I don't have any experience with them, but I personally wouldn't take them.  Your body needs water and it holds onto it for a reason.  Also, as you know, the weight you lose is just that-water weight.  You aren't losing fat, and that's what you want to lose, not water.  Just my $0.02.
Unless they are prescription water pills (like Lopressor) for a medical condition and you are under a physician's care, then I would not touch them.  Just drink the necessary water and you should find you won't need them.
I take them but only at the time of the month because i get very very uncomforatable bloating from water retention.  Other then that they will probably just make you dehydrated and not produce any long term benifit

I've done some research online, as far as I can tell they only help your kidney get rid of extra salt and water.   It helps your body process water faster which I think might be good for me because previously I was only drinking about 10 oz of water a day and now I am drinking 64 oz a day.
samatha they are diuretics, and they are not good to be on all the time unless you have some medical condition and they are recommended by a doctor.  They can resulkt in loss of potassium, dehydration and a host of other problems They are frequently abused by people with eating disorders.  If you feel you are retaining too much water you should go to the doctor, otherwise try mild natural things like coffee.
