Last week, I suddenly gained 8 pounds of water. A GALLON of water is being retained in my body. My skin feels very dry, but my knuckles and breasts are extra-squishy. I've heard methods of flushing it out, but what I'm really interested in is the cause. Any ideas?

I wouldn't have been so surprised if it were signaling TOM, but this happened at the time time TOM was stopping.  And I haven't done anything out of the ordinary for me lately - I've been drinking 64 oz. of water/day, eating food I regularly eat, and exercising moderately. My sodium consumption is high, it's true, but it's normal for me - I've never reacted like this before. Would my body suddenly decide it hates sodium out of nowhere?

I honestly thought I could somehow be pregnant, but a test (and the fact that I had TOM) confirms that I am not. What else could this be?

I don't know what exactly could be causing your water weight. ....Increase in sodium?? is what causes me to bloat.

However, to remove water and that "weighted" down feeling, I highly reccommend dandelion tea or better yet "nature's way" dandelion capsules...this herbal remedy is great for removing water ( acts like a gentle diuretic).

good luck
