Water weight

So, do people have water weight because they don't drink enough water?

And do we keep this water weight off by drinking plenty of water?

katydalt ~ our bodies are mostly water and it is essential to health.  Our hormones and time of month cycle have a big effect on bloating but so can other things like food allergies or sensitivites and especially salt.

Here are some articles on water...

Do you know how much water you should be drinking for optimum health and what your alternative sources of water are?  Alternative sources count so Check it out!!!

i want to know the answers to the two questions above also...
water weight fluctuations are normal. you can NOT AVOID them.
mmm i think you can..
im still a little unsure of things.
Katydalt ~ water weight fluctuations are normal, especially the week to 10 days before ttom.  Especially if you eat food with salt in it if you have a sensitivity to salt which many women develop as they get older.  There are a few things you can do to help, like drink plenty of water to keep the body hydrated, eat a little celery.  But if it becomes bad and the feet and hands really swell, then it is time to see the doctor because edema can be a sign of water retention from a variety of medical illnesses and may require prescription drugs.  But again, this is more often with older women.

The thing about water is that you want to drink enough to keep yourself fully hydrated to avoid headaches, confusion, or other injury to the body....  and you can use the links above to explore what is the right amount for you.  Remember that alternative water sources count some like liquid in soup and in sodas and drinks...

But it is important that you don't get too much water which can flush vital nutrients/enzymens/vitamins and minerals out of your system like potassium and electrolytes which can then cause you to be dizzy or faint.  In the extreme, it can cause death, like the woman who drank too much water last summer for a radio contest to win a game and she died.

How tragic.

We need to drink enough for our body because most of our body is water and it is important to replace what we use every day.

Don't fret the water fluctuations.  They are normal.  If they become extreme, then check with a doctor.

it's nearly impossible to drink too much water. you'd need to drink close to 2 gallons and eliminate it through urination or sweating in a short period. no one is going to do this unless it's on purpose, they're participating in a long and difficult sporting event, or there's some sort of sickness involved.
