Water and Weight Loss?

Quote  |  Reply
Okay - I've been dieting most of my life - and I do get my water in most of the time - but lately I've not been drinking and my weight won't move - moves up a pound or two but won't budge down. So is it really true? The water and weight loss connection?

And how much water a day do you drink?

I drink at least 3 qts a day, it helps counteract the sodium and keep me from having too much water weight. I'm a sodium junkie, so if I didn't flush it out I'd always weight heavier than i am and wouldn't be able to button my jeans!
They say if you drink three diffrent temp of water you loose weight quicker.... the hot water W/ lemon cleans your kidneys, warm water absorbes faster into your sistem making you feel fuller faster, and cold water to keep your metabalizm going. they say if you do this your more likely to loose 10-30 pounds quicker.
Water (like cupid said) helps tremendously with flushing out sodium.  Of course that's only if you drink enough.  If you're working out, it also helps rehydrate your body and muscles.  Muscles retain water when they're worked out so water helps it know it's ok to let some of that go.  And water helps keep your appetite in check...at least it helps me.  Don't ge me wrong, if you're hungry you should eat, but drink water with your meal and before your meal.  Not to mention it's great for your skin.  You can't go wrong with water!  Smile
you should drink half of your wt in oz. So if you weight 200 you need to drink 100oz of water per day.
It's a controversial issue as many scientists believe Americans are water obsessed and not needing to be so, since we get most water we need from our foods. That being said, there have been studies which demonstrated that those who drink 64oz/2L a day are less likely to be obese than those who don't. Whether it actually has anything to do with the water, or whether it just indicates a greater consciousness of health I don't know.

What I do know is that before I joined CC I barely drank water. Now I make an effort to drink 2L a day. At one point since joining CC I was drinking 4-5L a day, I felt bloated and sick from it so cut it back to 2-3L a day, I am much happier and continue to drop pounds. Plus it fills you up sometimes when those cravings are screaming loud and clear!
Okay ... its so good to read this - I suppose I really needed a reminder to get my water in. I'm lazy about it ... now I need to go and calculate how many cups in a liter. LOL!

THANKS so much guys - maybe its a reason my scale won't budge - I just refilled my glass and will drink away!
You hear this everywhere " lose ten pounds 48hrs [magic drink]! " blah blah blah...& what they don't tell you is that you're going to lose water weight. & just as easy as you lost it...it will come back.

I think that clearly goes with not drinking enough water. I don't know why. I've heard that the first 10lbs you lose are just water weight. Not sure how true this is.

But in all honesty, i've tried losing weight  before & i didn't drink enough water. I barely lost anything. Since i started drinking 64oz of water i've lost 16lbs. So it clearly ties in with weight loss.

Also to "curb your appetite", before exercising and during exercising, drink water w/lemon....It works!

Always have water with you when you are exercising to rehydrate yourself between reps...
