how much does "water weight" weigh?
before bed i weighed myself, and then again when i woke up and the scale had 3 lbs less than the night before. sometimes theres even a 5lb difference. why is that? is it the same for everyone else?
It's the same for me. I usually gain 2-4lbs throughout the day. Then lose 3-5lbs through the night.
I guess it is water weight. We're burning calories as we sleep through natural body functions, then we eat throughout the day which makes us gain weight.
that is also the food you ate throughout the day!
"How much does water weight weigh?"
To directly answer your question- A gallon of water actually weighs 8 pounds.
Weight fluctuations throughout the day and between am and pm are normal and happen to everyone. This is why it is better to weigh yourself first thing in the am and using the same scale.
I read that every 8oz. is equal to a half pound. So if you drink 16oz. of water you'll have an added pound of water weight. Luckily that goes away faster than extra food weight!
1 liter of water = 2.204684 pounds
So, don't drink water just before going on the scale and try to "pee" prior to weighing yourself....lol...but it's true.
I always weigh myself first thing in the morning for consistency. Apres pee, as rkdesktop advises!
16 ounces of water weighs one pound. This is not a coincidence.
