Hi all!  I'm new here Wink.  I had a question about body fat.

I do not think I'm overweight, but do think I need to lose some fat.  I just uploaded some embarassing pics of me, if someone would like to check.  Anways, my problem area is obviously my outer thighs.  It seems my upper body and lower body don't match.  The way things look am I destined to always have these bulging things??  I know its genetic, my mother and sister are the same way, but they are both overweight.  I was just wondering if it was possible to lose them or is it a hopeless battle?  Does anyone else have a similar body shape?  I feel like a have a very strange shape for a girl.

I really don't care about the number on the scale, I would just very like decrease my legs size.  I do cardio and heavy lifting (lots of squates and lunges), but I'm pretty sure my legs are just prone to put on muscle.  I know from experience (lowest weight I got was around 127-128) and it came off my upper body first(however that was solely through diet and cardio).  I know one cannot spot reduce, but I was wishing that with a reduced calorie diet (not too low) and cardio/weights, eventually they would slim down.  But if thats never going to happen and the rest of me is going to become skinny, I feel like I shouldn't even bother working so hard at it.  Any words of hope or advice?

Hi there, and welcome to C.C.! :) No need to worry, you're no freak. I looked at your pictures and have a similar body type as you. I don't think this is a hopeless battle we're in, just a slow one. You said you lost fat in your upper body, and I'm kind of similar in that way-- i lost fat in my lower arms/calves/ chest first, then my chest, though I'd really like to lose fat on my legs, tummy and upper arms. Why do our bodies never seem to cooperate? hah. Anyway, I don't think it's hopeless, it just seems like with this body type, that may be the last place to lose weight, as that is where most of it is stored. Best of luck, and don't give up. Even if you don't lose weight exactly how you want, at least you are choosing to be a healthier person over all.

Im not sure if that's the way its going to be for you but it is the way it is for me.. I think my thighs may even be a little bigger.

I am 5'5

125-128 lbs (depending on the time of day)

and all of my weight is in my thighs, alot of my problem is I also have excess skin from 3 pregnancies and it seems as though its not going anywhere.

I have lost almost 2 inches in my thighs since I started this website and , running, and doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. SO if anyone knows, please let us with the thighs know.

*bump*

Anybody want to help us thigh girls :-) ?

My thighs and butt are my problem areas too. I swore blind that doing squats and lunges etc were bulking them up but in the long run they have shrunk a jeans size. I think its down to heavy weight lifting while doing squats and the such. If it burns you know you are doing good! Although, in saying that, I think you need to be changing your exercise routine by trying out things you have never done before. You will end up working muscles you never knew you had! Oh, and I think its taken me at least 6 months of determination to get them down. There is no quick fix I'm afraid ladies.

I know we aren't alone... I see them everywhere...

Yay, it makes me feel better to know I'm not alone. lol.  I'm also feeling encouraged that it is still possible with time and hard work.  I wasn't looking for a quick fix anways.  Good luck to the rest of you ladies too!
