Wow, well...the doc said it will take about a month for the uppage on the nortrytaline to kick in, so no news on that.

I woke up with a full blown migraine on Monday, took the Treximet and the Fioricet together and went back to bed. I woke up 4 hours later and it was gone. I was fine, not even grogginess that I get with the other drugs.

Tuesday evening, I got another one (or the same one...not sure). I took both pills again, laid down for an hour and when I woke up, it was gone! This is great news for me because nothing ever works.

Now...the side effects. Ever since Monday, when I took my first dosage, I cannot keep awake. From then to last night, I would doze off while driving, while at work and while at school...and not even realize its happening! ahhh! Today is much better (2 days after last dose for migraine). I dont feel that tiredness at all. I've always had the day after grogginess when I took migraine medicine...this is different. I actually CANNOT concentrate on anything the day of or after. I guess I have to compromise...they did get rid of the migraines.

Also...I've been on Calorie Counter for two weeks. The first week I lost 3 lbs, this week I gained 1.5. aaahhhh!!! Why doesnt anything go my way???

Thanks for the help guys. Im needing some serious help. :p

I get a weird kind of migraines that usually end up in severe nausea and climax in vomiting, anywhere from a few hours to a few days later, though my worst lasted 2 week. So not fun. I find putting an ice pack on the back of my neck, to the base of my skull helps, sometimes I'll alternate that with a heating pad, since I tend to really tense up with a migraine and that makes it worse, but the cold and heat help my muscles relax. The thing that helps most is sleep, and lots of it!

My triggers can come from messing up my sleep pattern or eating pattern, but that usually takes a lot of abuse. My biggest trigger is scents, perfumes, scented candles, air fresheners are the worst, being around them for more than 20 minutes starts a migraine for me.

I finally went to my doctor (for some stupid reason I'd put it off) he prescribed Maxalt in the form of a tablet that dissolves on the tongue (also comes in a pill form, but that doesn't work as fast). It helps tremendously I take it as soon as I feel it coming on and it will be gone in 1/2 hr before it really gets bad even! I still get migraines that the maxalt only dulls with my period, which is odd since I hardly got these at that time before, so I need to talk to my doctor about that. I've also noticed the frequency of my migraines is greatly diminished since I started taking the maxalt.

I took Maxalt for a while but it didn't work for me.... I'm glad it's working for you! It made me light-headed and nauseous. I asked my neurologist about it, thinking it was the migraine, and she told me that it was likely the meds given the dose I was on. Uh oh... I guess my body is just really picky about the migraine meds I take.

I have had them since I was a kid.  They come in waves.  I havent had one in 2 months...knock on wood.  But when I do they are on the right side, with double vision and vomiting.  I have tried Relpax and Imitrex, and they both help, but they are so expensive even with insurance.  I have come to rely on Xanex.  It helps dull the pain if I am somewhere that I cant lay down.  When I am at home and I take one or half of one, I can go right to sleep.  When I wake up, the migraine is gone.

I swear by Relpax and naproxin when I get them. I never could take Imitrex because I had a REALLY bad experience with it the one and only time I took it.

I am currently on Treximet and have the same sleepy issues.  Within 30 minutes of taking the pill I am knocked out.  Now, I am not a light weight..I can take Loratab 10's and not get sleepy but the Treximet plum knocks me out.  I asked my Dr. about this and he said it is not uncommon.   I like the fact that they work but don't like that I have to wait till the kids are in bed before I can take them.  But I guess I will just have to deal with the sleepiness since they actually work.  Just thought I'd through my 2 cents in.

I read in one of your prior posts that you had a neck injury and have had migraines since about that time.  My husband was in a really bad wreck several years ago and hurt his neck and has been seeing chiros and pts for the pain and the headaches and occasional migraines that it causes.  Well they just gave him some type of saline injection in his neck to treat his muscles and he has been feeling good sense.  Just thought it might be worth a try.  I had a neck injury as well but I have migraines anyway.  Cry  I did find that relieving stress has helped a ton and I use imitrex injections.

migraines suck... I'm on Lyrica (150mg daily) to prevent them, and for the most part it has worked... but lately they have been coming back with a vengence... sometimes my Imitrex works and sometimes it doesn't... last week I was in the ER 3 times in 2 days... missed 2 days of work... I can't find anything that works consistently, and my triggers are also inconsistent... I'm very frustrated!
