What to wear for an elopement?

Quote  |  Reply

I like the first white one (nordstorm)!  Kinda casual, yet very pretty and femine.  Congrats on getting married!

I like the 4th one from your 2nd list.  I would definitely go with a white/ivory dress, regardless of the dress you choose though.

Best of luck and congratulations!

i like #4 and #6 a lot...

in order/.... I'd choose

first choice (a tie) dress #4 and dress #6

second choice  dress #1

third choice  dress #3

fourth choice  dress #5

last place (can't see what the front looks like :/  )   dress #2

My first choice would be dress 4

Second would be dress 5

p.s. does this type of dress flatter your figure?  If it does, congrats -  i would look like a blubbery fool in something like that :)

i think the last four dresses are a bit formal for an elopement. the first one's nice, in a different color, though!

Thank you all for your thoughts!  I guess I'll have to keep digging.  Maybe go to a store, try on dresses and take pictures then ask for feedback :)

dalmalama - I kind of feel the same way but the part of me things about how the pictures will look nice with that type of dress.  Then I think, it's an elopement it's supposed to be informal so the pictures should reflect that.  I'm really bad at talking myself in circles...

Where are you eloping to? I'd pick the dress based on the location. Justice of the peace? Smart little suit. Hawaii? Casual flowy white dress. Vegas? Big feathered head dress and sequins.

Good idea - what would you match with a small B&B in the country in Northern Minnesota in the dead of winter?  :)

Ski suit?

Yea - ha!  Either that or an ice princess costume :)

I like the last dress that's floaty with the beaded detail.  I could totally see wearing that as an ice princess or adapting it for a princess leia costume for halloween.

I recall Christie Brinkley wearing some cute things in cold Colorado.  You could

look that up for ideas too.

I found one picture and it's cute.  I especially like the layers of pearls.

Hmm...winter in northern minnesota...animal pelts?

Based on the location I'd go a little less formal than the last four and would think a cocktail/party dress would be more appropriate. For winter I'd do metallics (a soft gold or silver) or jewel tones if you can't find something you like in white.

There are so many cute holiday party dresses available now, shop around and find one that makes you look and feel fabulous.

Things sure have changed since my day.  Back then I would have suggested track shoes and a bullet proof vest because usually a shotgun was involved.

Regardless of the style of dress, my advice it to seriously consider white, ivory, or even pastel blue, pink, or champaigne.  Brides should feel like brides even for an elopement...it's still your wedding.

Aww no shotgun - no babies for at least 2.5 more years :)

My co-worker suggested champaigne today.  I think that's a good mesh of the winter season, wedding occassion and my super pale skin.  I'm going to go shopping on Saturday!

My personal fav. is the first white dress. :) Congrats. :)
