What do you wear to a summer wedding on a sheep farm?

Quote  |  Reply

One of my boyfriend's good friends is getting married this weekend, on her family's sheep farm in Pullman, WA. I have no idea what to wear! I'm thinking just like a sundress or something? I have a skirt I could wear and was thinking about just getting a nice tank top to wear with, but the skirt is white... and I've heard you shouldn't wear white to a wedding. Does it count if it's just a skirt? I'm thinking of looking at Macy's tomorrow...

Rubber boots.

will the sheep be in attendance? its important.

(I wouldn't go with a white skirt though, I'd go with sundressy pastel prints..... aaaah... Who am I kidding, I don't wear pastels... I'd have a cream colored print of some kind hahaha)

DON'T wear anything with bells. That's very important.

Sundress would work great. In some cases, white isn't the worst thing, if there's no way it could be confused with the bride's dress (it's clearly a skirt, and she's wearing a gown). But these days, more and more brides are opting for non-formal bridal gowns, and so your chances of having something similar (esp given the less than conventional setting) are actually increased.

If you know the bride, you coudl shoot her an email and say "this is what I'm thinking of wearing", but I'd take a look for a nice non-white sundress.

A sheepdog costume would be great.  They'd be all, "Don't go anywhere near that enormous sheepdog or it will deliver nasty little bites to your heels and emit loud sounds."  And then you wouldn't have to worry about tripping over any sheep.

I suggest not wearing a white skirt unless you have a good sense of humor and don't mind getting tons of comments.

The wedding could still be quite formal.  Just because it's outside doesn't mean its casual.  Just ask a family member or someone who would know.

Be sure to wear flats or wedges...its really hard to walk on grass with heels.

ok a sundress that isnt white with boots but no bells. oh and no wool. that might be tacky Smile

hlm, i would go with a sundress, something you will wear more than once.

LOL (while I'm thinking how that should not be this funny)... Laughing

It really shouldn't be that funny, and yet I can't stop giggling at the thought.

someone had to say it.  :P

and in sheep bizarro world, when they got back home, theyd all get on their calorie count site and make a silly thread about how retarded the human wedding guests acted

Haha yes, I know heels would not work so well on grass... and I don't know any of the family or anything so I can't really ask anyone.  Not sure if the sheep will be in attendance :] I'm sure they'll be nearby... probably not mingling with guests though. My search is frustrating so far, everything is either really short or couldn't be worn with a bra. I don't go bra-less kthx.

best mental image of the day.

hmj - what about those jersey dresses I've been seeing lately (sleeveless, but not strapless)

I'd start with a stylish flea and tick collar.

How's about some bo peep action?

Split in the country we call those ankle bracelets

yes a jersey dress. no heels. perfect!

that way if the sheep mingle, you'll be good to go. no need to move away from the sheep.

bagga - that won't work b/c of the off the shoulder action... unless bo peep typically has her bra showing?
