Website for buying a gift?

I need to buy a birthday gift for someone who is in the US (I'm in the UK).  Apart from the obvious (eg Amazon), what are some good american websites to buy a gift from?  The recipient is female, aged late 20s, and it's her birthday coming up!

no idea... it's my bf's sister.  I'm researching for him! She's quite traditional and conservative... so nothing too weird. 

Etsy has tons of jewelry (sellers are typically US or UK, and will usually ship anywhere).

urghh frustrating!  I found the perfect pair of pearl earrings on overstock.com but you can't ship to a US address with a non-US credit card.  How dumb is that?!?!?!?!?!?!

I would do a gift card unless you can get free shipping somewhere.

How about a subscription to a magazine, or Barnes and Nobles(a book store)?

I just bought a baby gift and sent it to another state. The shipping was so expensive that next time, I decided to send a gift card and add what it would of cost me to ship an item to the card. I would rather give the person more money to spend somewhere than spend it on shipping. Good Luck!
