Is this website health or AntiSkinny?
i only see people getting trashed if their bmi is less than 20 and they don't keep a very low profile about it, which is not a universal standard, and a lot of dismissiveness towards a potential to be healthy under the magic number. and i speak of people who do not display unhealthy behaviors.
you did not used to have to walk on eggshells here.
anyone in agreement or opposition?

What?
I doubt theres a lot of potential to be "healthy" under a bmi of 20, because that would be in the "underweight" range, and I don't really think underweight = healthy. A lot of posters are in opposition to that because CC can only promote healthy advice. Just because you are eating healthily and following all the guidelines that CC promotes doesn't make you healthy with a bmi of less than 20.
You don't have to be underweight to be skinny.
Then again, I could've misunderstood your post.
I'm not sure what your post says, sorry. But I think I have to say that one might have a BMI under 20, or over 20, and still not be healthy. I don't think anything has really changed on CC with regard to posts. There are always those for or against, right?
Eh, why two threads of the same thing?
i think it was a double post, ftf.

Basically you're underweight and you're upset because everybody, along with common sense, is telling you that its not a good thing.
But thats just me guessing. :P
You'll also see overweight people being bashed fairly often for mentioning that they are trying to lose weight by means of diet pills or not-so-healthy food choices (i.e. frozen diet dinners for every meal, avoiding fruits and veggies, etc.). There are a lot of people on CC who are on the lookout for what they perceive as unhealthy actions, be it for weight gain or weight loss.
I think what you are experiencing is something referred to as a reticular activator, which means your mind is more attuned to certain things. In your case, it's 'anti-skinny' posts. For me, my reticular activator is attune to morbid obesity, excess skin, and 'dieting vs. lifestyle change.'
Since my experience is with overeating and morbid obesity, I try to veer away from commenting on eating disorders on the other end of the weight spectrum.
TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU.
it pisses me off...
i'm extremely healthy and my bmi is 18.5, 23 years old.....i run 6 days a week, eat healthy, and train for marathons and i'm not emaciated my chest is still a doubleD.....it really bothers me how everyone on this site says that if you aren't at least a BMI of 20 you aren't healthy... its ridiculous
i've seen my doctor and he says i'm in great shape/very healthy...
20 is a guideline for ppl who are moderately active/medium build.....!!!!
if you are football player and completely made of muscle you can have a BMI that is considered obese!!!
these guidelines don't take all factors into consideration ...b/c guess what THEY ARE GUIDELINES.
yes the bottom line is if you have a bmi of less than 20 you should let your doctor know about it , and you may be healthy, but for many people less than 20 would lead to poor health, 20-24 is just a perfect range its ot some arbitary figure but a good general guide,

Will I lose weight if I eat the same food over and over?
You can lose weight despite eating the same food day-after-day as long as you eat fewer calories than you burn. In fact, eating the... Read more
