I need your opinions. What would you rather get as a wedding favor:
1- a boxed cupcake
2- some sort of serving item (dish, bowl, platter, cake server, etc).
Currently arguing w/ my mother about this so just wanted to see what people would actually prefer... thanks!!!

My wedding was just before Valentine's day, so I took the Hershey's kisses with cherries in them, put them in a little tule bag (tule [pronounced "Tool," not "Tull"] is the fabric that looks like netting for you non-fabric experts out there), wrapped it with ribbon and put little "love coupons" that I had made on them. (Good for one dance with the bride or groom, etc)
That's too adorable/sweet. Love it! I wonder how many people saved the little coupon/paper thing like with fortune cookies.
Surprisingly (to me anyway), many did. My wedding was 2 years ago and I still have people come up to me and tell me how cute they were and how they saved them. One man even carries one in his wallet!
I planned my wedding by myself in 3 months and on a tight budget. It surprised me that the things that were the biggest hits were the things I made myself for cheap!
Lol. That's fantastic/crafty. <3 Kudos!
Well I went to a wedding this past friday and thought the favors would fit both categories (edible and useful). During dessert time, there were 2 large tables set in the middle of the dance floor. One held little glass candy jars (about the size of my fist) with a label on the lid with the bride and groom's name and the date. The next table was filled with all types of candy to fill the jars. Mine was filled with truffles, chocolate covered pretzels and toffee. But there were many other types of candy as well that were not chocolate like those fruit slices, swedish fish, gummy worms, sour straws, and other things I can't remember. I thought it was cute since everyone could pick what they wanted (and eat some then and fill it again before leaving) and can also reuse the jar, whether it be for cookies, candy, or perhaps even a plant or candle.
I'm torn between the two.
I was planning on having hand-painted wine glasses with hershey kisses in them for the adults and cookie/candy tins for the kids attending my wedding. But I keep hearing about how people don't like clutter. But I still would like to do it. It's totally up to you and whatever you want. It's your wedding.
Good luck and congrats!!

I like that idea too!! I may have to steal this one. :)

Haha this and the caramel apples were my favorites at weddings I've gone to. The last wedding I was in they did the candy table. Instead of on the middle of the floor where people were dancing they did it right outside the doors to the room, which worked out well because the doors were open all night and people were walking through it to go to the lobby/bathrooms/bars. I think they had about 7 or 8 different kinds of candy and they were in jars of all different sizes and shapes. It looked so cool with the different colors of the candy (skittles, tootsie rolls & the little fruit rolls, lollipos, starburst, reese's pieces, m& m's) and the different jars.
edit: the bride was actually going to do cupcakes. She and her Mom were going to make them, but they decided it would be too time consuming to bake 200 cupcakes, frost & decorate them, and then box them up nicely.
