For your wedding, did/will you learn how to dance?
Just out of curiosity.
For those of you who did get married and will get married, did you/are you going to learn to dance so you could do more than just sway back and forth holding onto each other for dear life during your first dance?
He actually wants to take a few lessons because he has no rhythym to speak of. At all. Even a little. Which surprised me because that's really not his "thing".
I think it'll be fun though. At least it'll be a laugh.
Are you going to take lessons before your wedding??
My hubby and I took some lessons before we got married for the express purpose of not looking "dance challenged" during our first dance - that we had a great time doing it together was a wonderful bonus. I had some experience with dancing, but not ballroom, so it was pretty fun.
We didn't keep up with it after the wedding though, and now the only steps I remember are the basic box step, the waltz, and the rhumba.
We have been taking lessons, yes. :) It's part of why I asked. :)
We're enjoying it enough we're seriously contemplating continuing on with the dancing after the wedding. :)
We didn't take lessons. We just got out there and had fun...it was memorable! Don't stress. It is more fun that way!

Viennese Waltz!
DO IT!!!
DO IT NOW!!!
I think learning how to dance is a good idea. Otherwise, you better pick a short song, because it gets really awkward to watch people swaying in the same position for over 5 minutes - the guests will start trying to slip away from the dance floor.
And you can still be yourselves after learning how to dance! You won't get transformed into robots, and you'll probably have a lot of fun showing off your moves.
My husband and I already knew how to dance. That made it less stressful for us and more interessting for the guests.
Yes, but not necessarily for our wedding, but just to learn how to dance. Plus, dancing is great exercise! We're getting married in the Bahamas the week of Thanksgiving, with only a few people, so we're not really having any kind of wedding reception. We may have a party at our house sometime between Christmas and New Year.
But, I just want to learn to dance period....I can dance, but I want to learn things like the waltz, tango, etc....my Fiance has absolutely no rhythm and I've tried, but haven't been able to teach him.
I think it'll be loads of fun!

Nope. We had too much other stuff going on to have time for it. Plus hubby isn't into dancing....I love to dance but he always stands on the sidelines and watches. So we did the stupid swaying grabbing thing at our wedding. LOL
However now that we've been married, we are talking about doing salsa lessons. We'll see if I can get him to do it.
I just got married last summer. We didnt take dancing lessons. He didn't even know how to dance. But I did, I mean I can to a degree. So after we put the kids to bed we turned on the stero and I taught him how to dance. It was kinda like the swaying thing you mentioned but it was great because no one knew he learned to dance so it was a surprise to everyone there. ;o)
We didn't dance. We got married in a living room, went out for dinner, I got a little drunk on champagne, went to our fancy suite at the South Beach Ritz Carlton, did the nasty everywhere possible (including balcony), and then ate veggie burgers in bed while watching horror movies. The next day we left on a 2,000 mile road trip. I love my husband. :)
