Going to a Wedding....with my ridiculous friends

Quote  |  Reply
Hi Guys,

Sooooo this weekend I'm going to a wedding with my friends from college who I haven't seen in a while.  and it promises to deliver the following problematic Scenarios...

1) lots and lots of binge drinking

2) enormous amounts of food

3) wedding cake.

tips/tricks/advice? motivational pep talks?  I've been doing really well diet and excersize wise and I'm very fearful that this weekend will undo it all and begin a downward spiral!  help!

Allow yourself to indulge a little... But limit yourself...

Have one tiny slice of wedding cake... One decently portioned plate of food... And one or two glasses of champagne or what not...

If you don't allow yourself any you're not gonna enjoy yourself at all...

Maybe do a couple extra laps around the track or extra push-ups or whatever sort of exercise you enjoy
Have fun!!  It's not often you get to see your college friends, so enjoy!  Just watch the alcohol and try to go for lower calorie drinks.  Have a slice of wedding cake, but not a huge one.  I'm sure there will be something healthy at the wedding that won't ruin everything- veggies, grilled chicken/shrimp, salad, etc.  And I totally agree with hybrids- if you can work out that day, that will help a lot.  Just relax, have fun, and do the best you can without worrying or denying yourself anything!  You'll be fine! :)
Hey girlie.  What I suggest you do is the same as crissyc suggests.  Get in plenty of exercise that day so you have more calories to play around with.  Have a bite of cake (its not like you dont know what cake tastes like.  Remember that calorie's consumed is only measured on the bites taken, and swallows.  So eat slow and enjoy yourself!)  And as for drinks, just go easy on yourself!  If you have not drank since dieting, you will come to find out that drinking less will now get you more wasted.  You will need to find 'new' limits!  And get low cal options for drinks if it is an open bar.  Like bacardi and diet cokes.  Those will run you 100-150 cals a drink.

Have fun!
Dont forget about all of the wedding reception dancing you will probably do...that is sure to burn off a few of those extra calories you may be getting.
I agree, go out and have some fun! just get a good workout in beforehand.

And yes...I've lost 45 lbs and my alcohol tolerance is MUCH lower now, its pretty crazy....2-3 drinks and I'm done!
if there's a buffet, try to use a salad or side plate so it looks full with less food (and as you're passing by all that good stuff, remind yourself that you can always go back).

alternate alcoholic drinks with water.

dance, dance, dance!
keep drinking to a minimum and dance, dance, dance.....have fun. :)
I would say don't think about what food there will be, think who will be there instead and keep busy w/ dancing, talking, and just having a good time. It works for me, hope it does for you.

HTH
I say go nuts!  Pick out the day that you really just want to let loose - probably the actual wedding day - and just do whatever you want.  We have to live life.  What is the point of all of this if life is going to be about denial all the time?  But my suggestion would be go nuts on the stuff that makes sense in a social setting - like, if it's normal for you and your friends to drink a lot and that would be a part of the fun, do that.  But don't waste on filling your face at dinner, that's not a must do kind of thing.  Just have a normal dinner but have dessert and drink and enjoy it.

I go off my diet for things like this quite a bit.  I'm still losing weight but at a slower pace, and that's fine with me.  Every couple of months something like this will come along and I just do it!  I'd rather have fun and enjoy my life and my friends than be super-skinny super-fast.
workout in the morning so youll be more likely to be healthy the rest of the day
also, think of how proud you'll be of yourself afterwards if you dont go crazy :] good luck, && have fun!!
