Wednesday Early AM Chat-o-rama

Good morning folks.

Couldn't sleep...how are y'all doing this morning?

hey nomo I'm in the same boat except that I need 2500 today because I am only writing on work days.

I just start writing, nomo. I think about the idea of the plot and just...write. Sometimes I'm not even certain of all the characters or the mechanics...but as I said in your journal, it's easy to write romance because you are always searching for the happy ending...:)

some guys i chat with on irc are setting up a new zine-like site.  well, it's one guy, really.  he lives in maryland.  anyway, he wants me to contribute content to it

Like.. what kind of content?

well, i've done a bunch of movie reviews for the paper where i work.  so i guess it'd be review/rant type stuff about entertainment (movies/books/tv/fnord)

i am not a trained writer.  i enjoy doing it, but my only training is in technical writing (instructional/procedural type stuff)

today is honesty day for me - so you got it...I am not trained either, which may or may not explain my fear of seeking publication...:) (Ok when I said no fear, earlier, I lied...I do have one or two...)

1667 words x 30 days in Nov. = 1 (50K-word) novel (first draft) finished by the eo this month

Brave New World was about 50K words...  so was Of Mice and Men

but er, I'm not expecting my novel to be anything like either of those -- in content or quality

exuberant imperfection -- that's what I'm going for

nomo is apparently busy writing but I believe her number comes from dividing 50,000 by 30 to find out how many words to write in a day.

We have two types over here.
The kind that thinks he knows your job better than you do and REWRITES YOUR LETTERS.
And the kind that asks a billion questions over and over never actually learning anything.
But that's just over here.

I know, Canadian :) I gave permission before it went public :)
