38 week appt. and baby to come 10/6 or 10/7!!!!!

 

So, I went for my 38 week appointment today and informed my midwife of the recent symptoms I was having; spotting, leaking, cramping... Originally, I planned not to be checked interally but opted to outta my intense curiousity. Well, I am 3 cm and 50% effaced with bulging membranes and I was having what she said was a pretty intense contraction during the exam. Apparently, I have been having a lot of intense contractions that I thought were just baby positioning pain. She is going to be on vacation in the near future and asked how I felt about induction. I said I would rather not have the intense contractions of a pitocin-induced labor and she said I would probably not need medication, but rather they would break my water and let nature run it's course. They broke my water with my daughter and she came 2 hours later. I said that would be okay with me and she gave me the date...October 6th. I was like "This Monday!". OMG! It IS weird knowing. Monday afternoon they will do an exam at 3:45 to check and then proceed Monday evening with starting labor. The latest would be Tuesday. I think I may go before then though. My brother and the baby's father's birthdays are 10/7/08 (Tues). LOL!

I felt like I have been pregnant forever...and now I am down to less than a week! Ahhh! I am so nervous and excited. What a rollercoaster.

Oh and Bier, I totally was joking about the race...but haha! LOL! I asked for it.

Probably not. LOL! I was 3cm the morning my daughter came... I see an earlier arrival.  God I'm excited, nervous, anxious...

considering sometimes the exam can hurry it along as well(when the cervix is ready) it might be a good idea to get your bag ready by the door and put things on hold for a couple of days

I miss babies so much! Im done with that but miss it a lot!

I am all ready. I knew she would be early. After my first, I just knew when... Plus, I had that feeling this time. I had some pretty heavy bleeding after my exam. I know internals can speed things up too. I didn't mean for it to, but I guess it was almost time anyways! I can't wait to share pictures.

That would be cool to share a birthday with your uncle. My sister shares one with our Aunt and they are really close like mother and daughter at times.

WOW! Congrats!! It does sound like you'll be going sooner than Monday though, good luck!!!

OMG I leave and everyone gets pregnant!! WTF?! LOL Congratulations!

Oh, that's great!!!!  We should all take bets on when Baby will arrive.  I'm saying Thursday.  LOL!

 Yeah, you should. I am thinking Cecily is pretty on target though. I keep having contractions that require immobility to subside. As I said before, my daughter came at 7:10pm and I was at 3cm at 11am the same day. Of course they did break my water though at 5cm. Watch it be the middle of the night. I will be going to sleep early tonight...just in case. I feel like screaming I am sooo excited.

Wow! Congratulations! I'll bow down and admit defeat in the race.

My exam yesterday revealed...nothing! My cervix is closed up tight. No effacement, either. I guess it's a good thing since my doctor is out of town this weekend. My husband still thinks my labor will start before the week ends and my father-in-law agrees with him.

I say your baby comes TONIGHT! You'd better check in with us often today! Good thing you upped your leave to this week!

I'm still here, but I am having sporadic periods of pretty intense contractions. I had about an hour of them last night before bed at 45 sec- 3 minutes apart...then nothing. It's been like  that since yesterday. It's basically early labor and dialation. I think it could be any day now. I really wish my water would just break as a clear sign I need to move my butt to the hospital. I'm about to go for a walk and do some last minute shopping at Kmart. I need to get my daughter a gift and buy a disposable camera as a backup.

Bier- No wonder I was so exhausted at school. LOL! I was having bad contractions and ws dialated and didn't even know it. Jeez...you'd think I hadn't done this before. It seems so different this time.

I will check in regularly and plan to notify you all when I head to the hospital if possible. I don't have a laptop, so I will update when I can.

Thank you all for your excitement for me. I love that I can share this experience with all of you and can't wait til it's everyone else's turn.

I can't believe you wouldn't go out and get a laptop just so you can keep us CC-ers updated! Sheesh!  Relax and enjoy that baby! Don't worry about us!

The only thing I have on my "pre-baby to-do list" is to get my daughter a gift from the baby.

I had to laugh about UTR's comment.  I stayed logged on to CC and had my journal open all day.  When I was on the phone with the doctor to see if he wanted me to come to the hospital, I updated my journal to let everyone know I was on my way.  LOL!   

Still preggo. I am about to go for a walk with my mom. I'm hoping early morning diarrhea and some contracting while mean soon. LOL! TMI, I know.

Can you just have that baby please!!!!

I've been anxiously awaiting news that you'd gone to the hospital! I hope you don't have to wait until Monday!
