8 Week Challenge: May 24-July 12: weigh in's due monday by 10pm!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hey all...

My sister is getting married July 12th and I need some motivation and some challenge from others to shed the last of my baby weight to look hot in the dress! SOOO starting this Saturday I am going to start weighing in every Saturday in hopes of losing 16 lbs in the next 8 weeks!  I would hope for more but I know it is only safe to hope for 2 lbs a week!!

So, who is in?  Please only reply if you are serious to committing to the whole 8 weeks. The other challenge I joined has fizzled by week 6 and has left me unmotivated!!

June 7: 193

June 14: 192

June 21: 188

June 28: 190 Cry

July 12:

Goal Weight: 182(at least!)

Week 1and 2: Water challenge

drink half your body weight in water (e.g. for 180 pounds, you would drink 90 oz)
--OR--
__According to the Mayo Clinic
the recommended water intake for men is 3.0 liters (13 cups) and women is 2.2 liters (9 cups/75 ounces).

Week 3: Fiber Challenge:

*Fiber is the part of plant foods that your body doesn't digest and absorb. There are two basic types: soluble and insoluble. Insoluble fiber adds bulk to your stool and can help prevent constipation. Vegetables, wheat bran and other whole grains are good sources of insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber may help improve your cholesterol and blood sugar levels. According to the Mayo Clinic ,

*Women need 21 to 25 grams of fiber* a day. So that's the goal!  Eating fiber helps you feel full too!

(The smilies just help me to quickly locate those who are up to date with weigh ins.)

Still holding at 140. :( I need to get myself motivated!

OH FEARLESS LEADER.....where are you? While you were away some team members have been late posting their weights. Maybe they should be punished by being flogged by wet noodles or worse yet, be forced to eat copious amounts of buttered noodles. HA HA. Just want to let you know we miss you. Hurry back and tell us all about your sister's wedding. Any pictures? How about funny stories?

Where is everyone hiding? Nobody seems to be posting. Are you all "working it off"or taking a little break before the next 8 week challenge? I'm baking and decorating a three tier wedding cake for the wedding (July 19th). It's one of my gifts for the happy couple. The other is a framed watercolor that my late mother had painted. She passed away from cancer 3 1/2 years ago. I know it will mean a lot to them, as my cousin did not have anything his Auntie's. I went for my final fitting for my sarees, (they had to take new measurements). The top originally would have used 1 1/2 meters of material now my seamstress figures it would take less than 1 meter. She is quickly making the changes and will drive them over to my home Friday night.

Start weight: 146.2

May 24: 147.2

May 31: 146

June 7: 143.2

June 14: 143 (O week!)

June 21: 141.6

June 28: 141(.)

July 5: 137.6

July 12: 137(O)

Goal 135 (Next week maybe) NOT

July 17: 136

I'm posting early, as I am leave town too early in the morning.

Buggyhair My mom used to do a lot of cakes, but now she only does them for family and like you for family it's a gift.  It sounds like you are going above and beyond for the wedding I hope it is appreciated.  I'm sure the seamstress is not as happy though.

I miss next Saturday as well but I should be home by Augest 1st at the latest.  I'm hoping to be down below 135 by then. I will be strong, I will be strong.

Good morning, everyone. Please don't type too loudly. I had a really late night. The wedding was fantastic, with only a slight delay, an uncle of the bride had an "episode", a mild heart attack. One of the guests had heart medication (in spray form) and a granola bar so he had stabilized by the time the ambulance arrived. The uncle came back 4 1/2 hours later to join everyone. After the ceremony a light snack of Indian treats (at 3:30 p.m.), a dinner of traditional Indian dishes (at 7:00 p.m.), and to top it all off, midnight snacks of traditional Ukrainian foods and of coarse the wedding cake. I can't even fathom the amount of ghee, cream, butter and eggs that was in the foods. I figure you might as well add a hangover into the mix. Today is gift opening with a big brunch including a BBQ. at the groom's parents' house. I thought I would post my weight as 161.0 pounds though I'm thinking I'll have quite the weight gain this week to contend with. Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEEEE. I'm 49 today.

Hello,     Hello,       (silence). Hmmm, I wonder where everyone is? It's really quiet in here. I had to bust my butt to get rid of all those extra "party calories." I even managed to loose a teensy weensy bit. My weight this morning was 159.6 pounds. I guess I will have to put my blinders on and really focus on the "weighty issues at hand."

everyone went away after the official end date  buggy :D

weren't we going to do another challenge when resa got back? or something...

in either case... I'm at 170.8 this am... I'm all over the place with fluctuations, but I had a good weekend camping.

hey bohdan, it's good to see somebody is still around here. Yes, I know we are waiting for resa to get back to start up the next 8 week challenge, but she did say she would be checking in on us. She said she would put a link on this site to keep it just to our little group. Does anyone know when we can expect her to come back? I just want her to know that we are all still interested, motivated and working our butts off. I like to keep a routine (and log in my weight) so I don't backslide, besides I had my fun and now I have to keep myself focused on the goal. I'm going to up my weights and add a little jogging into the mix.

Im still up for another challenge too! This has been a great accountability tool!

Okay it's Satuday Morning and I'm here still hanging out.  My trip to Maine was nice.  We had a good visit.

My weight 2 weeks ago was 136 and today it's 133.

ok, soooo sorry I have not written in so long!  My sister's wedding was fabulous and alothough I didnt get to my perfect weight beforehand, I still felt better than I would have 10 lbs heavier!

As soon as i returned from the wedding our cable and internet was down for a week and we waited and waited for time warner to come fix it, and now I am in Florida and my phone wouldn't let me post messages so I had to wait until my husband finally got here to use his computer and post.

All that to say, I wasn;t ignoring you or leaving you, and yes I want to do another challenge which I think we should start NEXt Saturday, August 9.  That would be our initial weigh in for the next challenge.  I know it has been long between challenges but I won't have internet reliably until next week, as for right now I am at the clubhouse of the condo we are staying at just to write you all!!

Anyways, INITIAL WEIGH IN for Next Wednesday, I will start new thread in a little while and send in through this thread.

Sorry about the weight, but i will DEF need the challenge after this vacation! I have run a couple times while here, but not enough to make up for the calories I am taking in...yikes!!

WELCOME HOME.  (gives big hug)  We missed you. I may be out camping this week, but I will pack wisely...

1) digital kitchen scale

2) bathroom scale

3) extra runners

4) LOTS OF GUM (to keep the munchies away)

I should have internet access. I have an opportunity to go away and get some R & R. This includes gardening, berry picking, clearing trees and underbrush, fishing, riding horses, and all the other "fun" stuff. I don't know how hard it will be balancing calories in verses calories out, as I haven't had a real get away in years. Wish me luck, I have a stinking suspicion that I will really need this challenge, too.

Welcome home and gone again resa! LOL.  Enjoy the vacation, put on some pounds, that's what they're for right?  I glutted out last night... mmm ribs.

my weigh in this morning was 168.6.  its kinda felt like it was plateauing for me, but yesterday I saw a 164.8 or something during a time of max dehydration/starvation (woke up yesterday and went for a bike ride, that was the weight after I got home).  I was like 168.4 before the ride.. spooky amounts of water loss!

kick us the link when you can resa, but have fun.

buggy,

enjoy the camping trip!  toss the scale!  you're camping!

HA HA , you are funny bohdan. At least if I bring a scale, I won't need to bring a " food security guard" to go around behind me saying....BAD HAND, DROP IT & BACK AWAY FROM THE FOOD. I know I'll have a great time, I'm just a little nervous about self control and accountability. Sending a big hello to everyone, I had best round up my tent, sleeping bag, etc.

hey everybody, I'm up....but I don't see the LINK for us to put in our initial weigh in. Mine is 157.8 pounds. Let's get this party started. Bohdan, I brought a scale, it was pretty funny trying to stand up straight (with shaky legs) in a tent to read the numbers. If it makes you happy, I ate a jelly filled doughnut for breakfast. Is everyone up for this next 8 week challenge? I sure hope so. When I get back home I'll see if I can get some pictures in my profile gallery. If I get confused, can I email one of you for instructions?

it does make me happy.  we went camping two weeks ago... I had marshmallows (I hate them, but their good after their torched).

I'm always up after camping.. I'll bet you're back down tomorrow though.  its amazing, after counting calories as long as I ahve... I just write the stuff down when I'm gone and try to guess at maintenance.  there's usually a lot of salty food on those trips, I think waters a large part of my gains after camping.. but the bbq is SOOOOO good :D
