8 Week Challenge: May 24-July 12: weigh in's due monday by 10pm!!

Quote  |  Reply

Hey all...

My sister is getting married July 12th and I need some motivation and some challenge from others to shed the last of my baby weight to look hot in the dress! SOOO starting this Saturday I am going to start weighing in every Saturday in hopes of losing 16 lbs in the next 8 weeks!  I would hope for more but I know it is only safe to hope for 2 lbs a week!!

So, who is in?  Please only reply if you are serious to committing to the whole 8 weeks. The other challenge I joined has fizzled by week 6 and has left me unmotivated!!

July 12:

Goal Weight: 182(at least!)

Week 1and 2: Water challenge

drink half your body weight in water (e.g. for 180 pounds, you would drink 90 oz)
--OR--
__According to the Mayo Clinic
the recommended water intake for men is 3.0 liters (13 cups) and women is 2.2 liters (9 cups/75 ounces).

Week 3: Fiber Challenge:

*Fiber is the part of plant foods that your body doesn't digest and absorb. There are two basic types: soluble and insoluble. Insoluble fiber adds bulk to your stool and can help prevent constipation. Vegetables, wheat bran and other whole grains are good sources of insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber may help improve your cholesterol and blood sugar levels. According to the Mayo Clinic ,

*Women need 21 to 25 grams of fiber* a day. So that's the goal!  Eating fiber helps you feel full too!

(The smilies just help me to quickly locate those who are up to date with weigh ins.)

Here's slow carb meal that satisfies me alot more than one of those frozen diet meals -

Chilpolte Restaurant Salad with lettuce, black beans, chicken, tomato salsa - 379 calories with plenty of protein and slow carb beans.  I like that Chilpolte uses chicken raised with no antibiotics.

I hope you all are doing well!

I didn't update my weight this weekend, since it somehow stayed at exactly 171.4. Weird. I'm actually pretty happy about that, though, since I allowed myself to enjoy a few BBQs and beer over the weekend. I've stopped stressing when I slip up a bit, which I actually think helps me to slip up less, when I do.

I'm finding the water challenge to actually be a bit harder than I thought. I keep having to remind myself to drink, or put work aside for a minute so I can go get more water. So far I'm only on my third 12oz glass. I need 4 more by days end. I guess that's not too bad...

I hope the weather gets better. It's been raining lately whenever I'm out of work (I live in Boston), which makes it far too easy for me to talk myself out of walking...

One thing I've realized is how much I need to watch what I drink (even non-alcoholic). I've never been a soda drinker, so I thought I was fine, but then I read this: http://www.menshealth.com/eatthis/Unhealthies t_Drinks_in_America/1_The_Worst_Drink_in_Amer ica.php and realized I may want to rethink the VitaminWater I've come to love, or any other non-water drinks...

I am def planning on kicking myself in to action starting next monday as my hubbie will be back at work then during the day and i can exercise in my normal routine and eating my usual 'diet' foods rather than being taken out for lunch etc! At least I am trying to be good where I can so hopefully Id like 2 c 181 on the scales by next weigh in which would be to us brits 12st 13lbs (under 13!! yay)
Hi everyone,

I just wanted to check in and wish everyone a healthy day. I'm doing a really good job this week with the challenge and hope to drink some more water today. I picked up a refillable water bottle (it is part of a keep the earth green thing,) so with the weather turning HOT in Florida, I'll try and sneek in a few more oz.

Best of luck to everyone! Ri

I did well with the water challenge.  I keep a 32 ounce reusable bottle at my desk with me at work and refill it and  drink it all day.  It works pretty well.  I hope everyone is doing well!

Well I drank all of my water and am hoping it stays a good habit.

Still sitting at 180.  UGH!  0 loss again.

At least its not a gain!

Plateau or stress  - and I'm betting the stress factor.

The water challenge is actually easy for me because I drink a ton due to medication.   I have a 32 oz water bottle and I've been refilling it at least 5x a day.  That is in addition to the diet decaf pop I drink - so I probably drink more than my body weight in ounces.

However it is a beautiful day today and I really hope that I  can get a bunch of stuff done  including getting in at least 45 min on the treadmill.  Maybe I can take both Annie and Mu for walkies. We're golfing tomorrow and I plan to walk the 9 holes and pull the cart again.

Have a great weekend everyone! Smile

How frustrating - according to my log my deficit has been 3584 since Sunday ... the scale hasn't moved in a week and a half Cry. I'll just have to keep plugging away.

hey, i didn't miss my first weigh-in, i did it early... so

May 24 was 198

May 31 is 195.5

thanks!  :)

Okay my little girls birthday party was fun.  I made all kinds of low fat and low cal stuff.  But...  I did have a piece of cake and a few potato chips and a few scoops with my no fat dip and low cal hummus.  I basically ate all my cals in a few hours time.   It was worth it.  I'm full and bloated with cramps to boot so over all It could have been a lot worse.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Great job everyone so far!  I am seeing either huge losses or no loss at all from everyone!  I am stuck at 195.5 and the scale doesn't go down, only up.  On Tuesday I was 194.5, so I have no clue what is going on. I am so weak when it comes to chocolate.  I am trying real hard.  I want to be at least in the 180's for this damn wedding!

How has everyone else done this weekend?  I had some sushi for dinner and didn't realize it had quite as many calories as it did until after I ate it.  Dang it!  I thought I made a healthy choice!

iggratu...sorry I messed up.  To keep myself on track I delete emails after I edit the post and I must have forgotten to save the post after I edited it.  I THOUGHT you had done if it that helps at all! lol.

Ok, off to sleep.

P.S...anyone else a sex and the city fan?  I went to see it last night and wanted to know if anyone else saw it and what they thought...
