6 Week Check-up for mom
So, I am going for my 6 week check-up today. Time really flew. I am suppose to be getting Mirena "installed" LOL! today and I hope all goes well. I am still on the fence about my reaction to the hormones considering my history of lunacy and ovarian cysts with and without it. Ha! I hope everything goes smoothly. I also saved my Friday weigh in for today at the doctors. I think I am stuck at 122ish for now though. Because I am actively gaining muscle, not running/doing some intense cardio as much as I did (every day about 45 min. aggressively) at my goal weight of 115 and cannot lower my calorie intake while breastfeeding; I think I will be here for a bit. I'll just continue to work on muscle building and toning. My runs about every other day have been great too. I add about 1/4 mile every run now and will hit 5 on my next! Yay!
Good luck today! I, too, hope all goes well for you with the Mirena. My 6 week checkup is Friday. I can't believe I have to go back to work in 2 weeks :(
We're going on vacation Thursday and it's back to school (full-time) when I get back on the 1st. I can't wait to finish. Full-time will put me graduating in Feb. rather than the current April!
Baby's first road trip will be from Wellsville, NY to Charlotte, NC! It's about 12 hours. We have been getting bouts of snow too. Hehe! At least I am driving. Can't wait to break in my new snow tires!![]()
We got our first snow on Saturday. No accumulation but we were shopping at an outdoor mall with an ice skating rink so it put us in the holiday mood!
Good luck on the road trip. Is it just you and the kids or will you be able to enjoy the company of another adult? I know sometimes I go a little crazy only being around the kids for long periods of time!
My mom's riding with me. My dad is coming down later. I wouldn't brave it alone driving! I'd definitely fly!!!![]()
OOh, I had to fly with my son for my FiL's funeral when he was 7 weeks old. There is a great site called "my travel buddy" that has wonderful contraptions for traveling with baby!
Congradulations on the college graduation in Feb! I have roughly 3 1/2 more semesters to go! LOL!!
Regarding your Mirena IUD--I got mine in about 2 weeks ago (6months post delivery), and so far it's fine. No hormonal b.s., but be forewarned, you may bleed for a bit. I've been spotting for 2+ weeks :( However, I had it before, and this was exactly what happened for a few weeks, then it was pure contraceptive bliss. No periods, no hormonal swings, no unintended pregnancies! And, btw, it doesn't hurt to have "installed" after you've delivered a baby. I was like, "Have you started yet?" and the Dr. laughed and said it was already in.
Just wondering if they will put the coil in while you are breastfeeding.... I remember after my second my doc wouldn't...... hmmmm. Def want to get 6 weeks after my third but will prob be breastfeeding again (all going well).
i dont know if anyone is still reading this post but..... im thinking about mirena but have read the horror stories online about all the women that are losing a ton of hair and believe it is from the mirena. i have a friend from work who also has been losing much more hair than normal- she got hers in september. this seems very scary to me and im just wondering if anyone here has experienced this. thanks for any input!

The hair loss is probably due to a fluctuation in hormones. After I had my first baby I lost a terrifying amount of hair (thankfully I have a ton of it) while my hormones were returning to their pre-pregnancy state. I keep getting an error message while trying to access Mirena's website so I can't see if that's one of the listed side effects. I wonder if the hair loss subsides after having it in place for a while.
