weekend advice please!

Quote  |  Reply

Hello!  I can stick to a diet easily during the week and get plenty of exercise in.  BUT  It seems like every single weekend (usually Saturday) I splurge by going out to dinner and then baking brownies or cookies or something.  It is really hard for me to be good on my diet on the weekend because there are always social events I am attending that seem to be centered around food!  I know it may not be the healthiest choice - but if I cut back my daily calories by 200 calories a day and then had my "splurge day" once a week, do you think I could still lose a pound a week?  Any advice would be awesome!  Thanks Laughing

p.s.- I don't mean to pig out the whole weekend, I mean just one single day of not counting calories.

I have a cheat meal once or twice every week. I just bump up my workout on the weekend to make up for it. Don't worry about it. Life is too short and food is to good.

You can still be careful even with the cheat meal. I don't make it a whole cheat day. I still skip the fatty things like mayo butter and so on. If I order pizza I get think crust, veggies and ask for half the cheese. If I order a sub I get veggies and chicken or turkey instead of cheese or beef. Not that I don't eat beef sometimes too. Skip the mayo or dressing and ask for whole grain bread. Just do little things like that but still enjoy. I order desert and just get one or two things instead of buying or making a whole cake, pie, batch of cookies. Drink tons of water and don't waste calories on drinks.

Try exercising on the day that you will splurge, that way you have more wiggle room.

I try to make plans that will keep me busy and not thinking about food.  I eat when I'm bored so as long as I make sure I am out shopping, or at a movie, or just generally doing something that will entertain me, then I won't slip up.

That being said, I think I have a crazy amount of willpower or so everybody tells me.  If it is not on my diet, I simply won't eat it no matter what.  It's not even a question or something I have to think about anymore.  I just head straight for what I know I can eat and don't worry about the rest.
