Weekend cocktails ruining your progress?
They sure are ruining mine. Last week I started coming to this site and soon became obsessed. I love having a place where I can be held accountable for everything I put in my mouth. HOWEVER, come every Thursday or so, I love to relax with a few drinks. For the calories, I've decided to drink Bacardi Limon w/ Fresca (68 cals). This worked well Thursday night, but then fast forward to Saturday. I was so stupid to "save" my calories from lunch in order to party big, but as the night wore on, hunger kicked in, pizza arrived, and I indulged. Between Friday and Monday, I put on nearly 5 lbs. I still lost a pound last week which puts me right at my goal, but I could be progressing so much faster if only I could put the drinks down! This is the downfall of every diet I get on. Sorry about the rant, but maybe putting it out there might help me have the control to leave the drinks out for a while. Anyone else have this issue?

*hasta* "Problem is I want to keep going when I get home."
Ooh, I have that problem too. Unfortunately I live in the bar district of town (Jax Beach) and I am also a social butterfly in the entertainment business so I have swarm of bar buddies. I live only a few blocks away from the strip so there's always an afterparty at my house of 5 peeps or so (used to be 50 back in the day)
I call it "Club Mia - where the party keeps a goin' & drinks don't stop a flowin' "
lol
It's only once a week (mainly Friday nights) if that, but it's still enough to blow my diet and make me feel like a hungover lush the next day. I live alone so it's hard not to go out & wanna network with cocktails. It breaks the ice and the monotony.
I strain to remember what I did for fun before I was 21.....
*mia* Chef Boyardee is an interesting hangover helper. I all but stopped eating beef a while ago, but to this day, I gotta get a big greasy cheeseburger and fries to ease the hangover pain. It's funny too because when sober, I RARELY crave burgers anymore. Whatever works though, right?
Are you from Jax Beach as in Jacksonville, FL? That's where I grew up! Only not on the beach. I lived right outside of Orange Park. Small world!

A job where you have a lot of flexibility is a blessing and a curse. I had 4 glasses of wine with my boss today. I'm a co-owner of the company but it's a 90/10 split. --- it's a he. I'm from Texas and pretty paranoid about posting on the internet. This is the first site I've done it on. I'm in the software world but maybe my age (43) makes me cautious.
Take care folks. - Hasta
*miller* You'll bounce back from it, girl! Drink lotso water today, maybe that'll help get rid of all that sugar you had last night. Tonight is going to be trying for me... Christmas party with the coworkers. I might need a few to tolerate these people on a Friday night. Haha! Wish me luck!

Holy cow, it is a small world. lol
I used to live on the southside of town before I moved to the beach. I went the Englewood (sucky school) & graduated in 95.
I can't believe it's been 12 years since I graduated highschool, I'm an old fart. lol
liljdoll, i'm wondering how you did at the party.?? I went to my office party last night. I had about 7 drinks between 4pm & 11pm but i didn't overeat. Same old thing.
I didn't overeat at dinner, and I only had about 2 1/2 drinks at the party. I was doing pretty good until we went to the bar AFTER the party. There, I drank about half a pitcher of red sangria and shared a horrible plate of nachos with my husband. I know I'll make up for it this week, as I am going to be back in the gym sweating off some of these calories, but this weekend was really disappointing for me. I don't think that'll be happening again for a while. I'm usually good at doing the drinking thing and AVOIDING the horrible munchies, but the mood just got the best of me. Better luck this week... as long as I lose weight, I'm happy. Good to see you did so well at your party though! At least one of us stayed strong!!

*miller* how are you? You're working on controlling some things. How did it go? Either way tell me.
I can relate.
It got a little quiet in here as of late, but I just wanted to check in on everyone to see how the holidays are going. I just returned from my trip to see the inlaws, weighed myself this morning, and didn't gain anything! Didn't lose either, but that makes me more than happy right now. One more holiday to get through though! Hope everyone's doing well!!!

It's Sunday, I'm back to my own home and my beloved city (Austin). Weighed in at 138.6. I couldn't believe it. It's a little lower than when I left! Got my excercise in today. Got out to excercise 2 out of the 5 days that I was at the parent's house. I guess that and the portion control I attempted helped.
I did have about 1/2 bottle of wine last night while watching the big football game. Oh well, I'm going to try not to have any today since tomorrow will be a big party nite.
Hey guys,
I love this forum, I've been wanting to discuss the same topic Im glad someone started it. I have the same problem....booze lol. I do really well except when it comes to the after work and weekend drinks, I dont drink mixed drinks im usually a wine after work and light beers on the weekends.
I dont over eat except when Im hungover (usually cheeseburger w/ fries iced tea), now Im getting chunky and my clothes dont fit the same way they used to :(.
Does anybody think by working out harder during the week will make up for it on weekends????
I have a few drinks on the weekend or sometimes when I go out on dates. Screwdrivers and greyhounds are usually pretty good and not too bad on the calories.
I do martial arts or go dancing 4-6 times a week and they just don't mix well with drinking so it keeps me from getting too wild.
I continue to have trouble decreasing my calories from wine and beer. Ok, I guess it would be easier to say "I drink too much and too often". Today I looked back at the last 7 days of my food log and wrote down all of the daily calories that came from alcohol. I won't mention the # of calories b/c I'm embarrassed. I'm wondering what to do with this data. It would be pretty unrealistic for me to cut it completely however beneficial that would be. Perhaps I'll target cutting the average # of calories in half.
I'm just thinking out loud. I hope you all are doing better than I am. Let's keep talking here to try to help each other.
Geez, I've been totally spacing on my forum! Dang holidays!!! But I would like to say a few things...
los_angeles: Did I create a faux profile in a drunken stupor?!! Cause you sound exactly like me! After a rough night of drinking, I head STRAIGHT to Hardee's for the bacon cheeseburger, sickeningly large fries, and the doubly huge ICED TEA!! HAHAHAHA! That's so awesome! And any other time, I don't even eat beef! I'd like to think that working hard during the week definitely provides a nice comfort zone for the weekend. Problem is that if you get TOO comfortable you'll totally undo all that great progress. That's why I weigh in on Fridays... I got to the point where Monday weigh-ins were too painful. Seems to be working out so far. I stay pretty well-disciplined during the week (possibly undoing the weekend mistakes). Oh well... whatever works, right? ;)
mgallagher: Thanks for the compliment, but what if the booze totally bypasses the belly and heads straight into the thighs?? Still attractive? haha
hasta: Of course you don't drink 'too much too often.' We have needs! (kiddin... maybe...)
How much fibre should I eat per day?
In the US, the Daily Reference Intakes for fiber are: 25 grams for women 19 - 50 21 grams for women 51 - 70+ 38 grams for men 19 - 50 30 grams for men 51 -... Read more
