Weekend defenders!!! Super Bowl strategy!

Quote  |  Reply

Okay so here it is - an American tradition! Food, sports and great commercials. How do we every get through it and remain in tact? My solution for the game - I am saving some calorie room for popcorn. Lots of popcorn!!!

The gym on both days will buy me a little room. I think it can be done!!!

What say you!!!!

What say me?  I say head over to the Lounge and check out how I'll be celebrating the most universally decedent junk food day of the year.  No need to calorie count on that special day of days.  Cards win and Warner makes it to the HOF and Rams fans the world over rejoice.  Enough said, enjoy the game!

One thing I think was helpful for me last year was to make sure that I always put my food on a plate then went over to the TV to eat it.  By putting it on a plate, I could see exactly what I was eating.  By moving away from the food to eat I didn't get the urge to stand and snack for a long time.

Calories are irrelevant after the first 6-pack.

I'm actually *cough go Steelers* entertaining my college roommates this Superbowl Sunday.  Fortunately, they were never big eaters, but I don't want to subject *Cough <3 Ben Cough* them to my diet.

As a dinner, we've agreed *Cough-Here We Go!* on chicken strips instead of the normal pizza.  French fries aren't too bad in small portions.  We'll also have popcorn in massive quantities--20 calories a cup, as well as pretzels and tortilla chips with salsa.  I'm also baking a cake for them, cause it isn't a roomie get together without cake.  I'll just make my slice reallllly tiny.

*Sneeze--We'refromthetownwiththatgreatfootbal lteam,we cheerthePittsburghSteelers!*

Well, you know where my loyalties lie.  I'm banking on the game being close and being too panicked to eat, hehe.

Oh, and that "six pack"...that sounds just fine by me!

Edit:  Script blocker makes posting in a forum difficult

Salsa (homemade is best!) and Guiltless Gourmet Chips!

Hummus, black bean dip and white bean dip with veggies!

Grilled chicken tenders dipped in Franks Red Hot!

Lentil Chili with low fat sour cream! (I DARE anyone to say their meat chili is better than my Lentil - you WILL lose lol)

Fire up the grill!  Grilled onions and pepper, mushrooms and zucchini, and chicken, fish, chicken sausage, lean stakes or 95% lean burgers...pork loin...portabellas...grilled corn...venison...buffalo...mmmmmmm

Air popped popcorn with seasoning

Oh man, if only I had ANY of this food available here lol.  Have fun guys, we won't be able to watch - no American TV here :o( Glad to know I'm not the only one who will put in an extra hour of working out so I can up  my calories for special days lol.

I'm going to avoid the wings--I looked up the cals and were shocked. In 3 wings from Wegmans (the supermarket chain where I live) it's 460 cals. Just not worth it for the amount of food there is.

I am going to eat some fun food, however. I am making a mexican dip that I can enjoy a lot more of for less cals than 460.

I am not going to drink beer.

I am also going to have two good exercise days on Sat and Sun and try to be lower on the cals today.

Finally, on sunday I am going to try and eat some dense, but low cal foods b4 the party--i.e. egg white and veggies for breakfast. Celery/green peppers with hummus for snack. A giant spinach salad for lunch with some egg whites, toasted almonds, onions, mushrooms and some grated parm cheese with a viniagrette I made at home. Maybe a little grilled chicken on the side.  I'll have a second snack in the afternoon along with some air popped popcorn. Bottom line I am trying to fill myself up with low cal -- but filling -- foods so I can indulge (within reason) at the party!

Woooo go Cardinals! <-- I live in AZ, it's not my fault :)

I'm thinking about making grilled hot wings with franks red hot, grilled chicken, and dipping it in a little Light blue cheese, with celery of course! Just for tradition. You can sprinkle your popcorn with hot sauce! And then get one of those blue cheese mix yourself dressing packets and sprinkle that on. mm that actually sounds real good.

I'm doing nachos with fat free cheese, artichoke dip w/ light mayo etc, baked wings & guac. I scored some belgian endive at the store, which is my favourite dip "scooper."

I'm totally going for it! Go Steelers!

No defense from eating...I just worked our really hard yesterday and today! Let's bring on the meatballs and hotwings!

Rah rah Big Ben!

sounds like a great idea!!!

Amen! I'm giving myself a 2000 calorie day, and just hitting the gym hard to make-up for it. Wont kill me, right? Go Cards!
