Is my weekly deficit too large?
I am a 22 year old female, current weight around 160 lbs. Last week I had a 10,000 calorie deficit over 7 days, mostly because I ran 41 miles over the course of the week (training for a marathon).
Is 10,000 calories too large of a deficit? I ate around 1200 cals on the days I didn't run and around 1800-2000 on the days I did. I am very careful to eat a lot of protein and I never feel hungry or tired, even on long run days.
Thanks for the advice!
If the scale drops more than 2 lbs. a week consistently you should consider upping your cals a bit. If not then I wouldn't worry about it since it's just an estimate anyway.
I am curious to know what you ate on the 1200 calorie days. I am just starting out, not very active and I am hungry and tired with 1200 calories.
Thanks for the advice, trhawley. I am losing 1-2 lbs/week so I guess I am fine.
1jblessed54, I am a vegan so my daily menu might seem unusual to you. I try to eat as many raw fruits and vegetables as possible, as well as a lot of protein from soy products like edamame, tofu, and mock meats. I ate around 1250 calories yesterday and here's a breakdown of what I had:
breakfast: Kashi GoLean cereal with soymilk, coffee with soymilk
snack: banana
lunch: 2 servings Trader Joe's soy nuggets with ketchup, lots of raw carrots, bell pepper and celery with 4 tbsp paprika hummus
snack: vanilla almond granola bar
another snack: 1/2 cup cherries
dinner: (ok this wasn't really a dinner, I wasn't home to cook anything) 1 cup edamame, lots of raw carrots and 4tbsp artichoke kalamata hummus
