Weekly Overview on Burnmeter & Calories?
Hi guys!
I am a total newbie to the site and still trying to figure it out! I was wondering - is there an option that tallies up the weeks calories consumed & calories burned? I was looking to find an overview on how I was doing in my first week (because I can't seem to understand why scales and cms haven't budged...), but can't seem to find the option!
Thanks in advance for the help!
Nope, don't think so. I track them manually on an excel spreadsheet - I like the visual of seeing the entire week because it gives me a good reality check as to how much I am really eating vs. what my target is.
thanks sybil! maybe i'll start doing that too :-) ! i think i'm in need of the same 'reality check'. lol!
If you click on the tab - My Account, then the Analysis tab. Scroll down, and select the option - Last 7 days. This will give you an overall analysis of your last 7 days calorie intake.
To add to what aoifek mentioned, you can estimate your burn for those days by looking at your "base" burn from the front page and adding your activity calories burned from the activities page. (You can view the activities log with a range of dates as well as the .)
Occasionally, say as you lose every 5 pounds, you may want to "refresh" on your Excel page what your "base" burn is. For me - I believe every # lost = 5 calories. Since this is all a very good estimate anyways, refreshing every few to five pounds would be a good estimate of "burn".
I forgot to mention, that if you have space, you may want to add comments to explain unusually high or low intake days so you have a better grasp for analysis/check-in later.
Other factors may be something you like to track as well, like Cholesterol or Sodium. I know for a fact that I bloat a bit every weekend and my low tends to be on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday due to higher sodium on the weekend, but if you are just starting, tracking other items may help track down flucuations you don't otherwise understand.
WOW! those are great tips! thanks! i had no idea you could track your burned calories from the activity log!! very cool!
Tracking sodium (and sugar for me....) is a great idea too!

There is also a way to look at each month. That's what I've been tracking in my Excel spreadsheet. My monthly averages and my daily average burn (above my sedentary). I just go through the activity log and add up all the activity I've logged and divide it by the number of days.
In my journal I have a set of goals, to lose X pounds, eat X grams of protein, etc. It helps keep me honest if I have to look at the totals and averages month to month.
I found a website that I use to log all my "training" or workouts and it calculates my calories for me. I can print reports from it by type of work out and it has a great tool for when I want to walk to calculate how far I go. It is a tool that is link to the mapping tools out there where you can get to the street level and do a point and click whereever you walk. Cool tool. I love this website. I can see my progress for the month as far as working out. It shows a the month and puts little icons on for the different kinds of workouts, swimming, walking, hiking, running, gym workouts. There is a way to track all of them. I burned 11,331 cal for May not bad for my first full month of losing. I feel its more acurate way to calculate calories especially for my swimming. Then I do as the other ladies do figure my base burn and use my reports to calcuate how I'm doing. Here's the website in case anyone's interested. http://www.mapmywalk.com If you are a walker or a swimmer it is definitely worth looking at. I also love the way it does the reports of your workouts and stuff.
Wow I checked that site out and it is awesome. Just what I have been looking for. Thank You
This is more of a question than a reply. I'm sort of new; I started and stopped, now I'm back. How does the Burn Meter work? For example all I did was eat breakfast and logged in my food and the burn reads: Total Estimate 2070 (is this the daily total that i must burn in calories?)
Also the burn meter reads "618 to date" (what does this mean, since I did not complete activity or anything to burn so far this morning?)

a little more than you asked, but:
The EAT meter TOP number shows the number of calories you have
selected as your target goal (in your account settings -- you can change it)
The EAT meter BOTTOM number reflects the calories you are logging into
your food log.
The BURN meter TOP number is the total estimated calories you burn based on your age, height, current weight, gender, and activity level -- if you set yourself as "sedentary" and then add in your activity calories -- those are added into the TOP number.
The BURN meter BOTTOM number shows how many calories you have burned at the moment you are looking at the meter. This number starts at 0 at midnight, reflects all the calories you burned throughout the night while sleeping, all the calories you burn just by living, and calories normally expended at your listed activity level. When (If) you add in activity minutes -- it will also reflect that added to the total.
If you stay up til midnight you can see both meters switch over to 0
