Weekly Weigh In Advise
Hi, I'm fairly new to this excellent website and community and am looking for some advise on how best to weigh my self. I aim to get on my newly purchased scales once a week - on a Wednesday morning - but am wondering if I should weigh myself in underwear only, shirt and shoes or full dress - i.e. shirt, trousers, socks, shoes etc. Basically, what would be my best option? I don't want to cheat myself or anything but - for instance - today I tried out the scales and I weighed 14 stone 10 lbs with only my boxer shorts and socks on, but then weighed my self with socks, trainers, jogging pants and a t shirt on - my weight came in at 15 stone 01 lb. Would these clothing items really add 5 lbs to the scales???
Yes they certainly could add 5 lbs. Also if you have had anything at all to eat or drink it would add the weight of the food/liquid. My recommendation (I'm not an expert) would be to try to be consistant with your weigh ins. Each week just after you wake up and after relieving yourself weigh in with only boxers on. Also don't fret if your weight is not what you expected for one particular weigh in. Many things affect your weight on any given day. I find that if I worked out particularly hard one week that week's weigh in will actually be up a little and the next week it will drop. Also sodium and dehydration can affect the numbers. I am sure there are other things that affect your weight on any given day. So I guess what I am saying is not to look at the numbers as much as the trend. Hope this helps! And Good Luck!!!
Make sure the new scale is accurate by weighing yourself three times in a row. I'm taking back a scale I just bought yesterday because it was giving me different readings seconds away from each other - and it was like a 5 pounds difference each time.
I always weigh myself first thing in the morning after having using the restroom. Always just a t-shirt and undies for me. It doesn't matter so much what you're wearing rather than the change you see from week to week in weight. The reason we're weighing ourselves is to see a steady decrease in weight and to visually be able to record our progress. The numbers themselves aren't really important. Just try to be consistent in what you're wearing and when you weigh yourself. You're weight can vary a few pounds throughout the day. :)

well it definitely matters what you are wearing because if you weight you self one week and you lose 3 pounds but you weight your self the next week and it says you gained 2 pounds because your clothes and time of day adds 5 pounds then you would not feel so good. My advice pick same time of day and if you decide to weight full dress do that all the time rather its with shoes or without I choose without shoes because every last one of my shoes weight 2 pounds except these boots I have that weight almost 3. you could also pick a weight in outfit like on the biggest losers thats too much work for me but it could be fun for you
