Weekly Weigh in 7/17/11

Quote  |  Reply

If you are new to the 100lb+ group and weekly weigh-in posts,  first of all WELCOME from all of us who have been here for a while. Of  course, you are welcome to join us; in fact, we love new faces and  spirits.

The weigh-ins work like this. Anyone can start the post so if  Sunday morning you check in and no one has started this week's thread,  feel free to launch it yourself. Just include a welcome and brief  explanation like this one so that newcomers feel confident in adding  their posts for the first time.

We start on Sunday and many of us weigh-in on Sunday but since we  post throughout the week, you can really weigh-in when ever you like.  And if you don't want to weigh in weekly or even bi-weekly that is okay  too. Just tell us what you have been up to or struggling with or having  success with.

The lingo...Most of us use SW for starting weight, LW for last  week's weight or lowest weight, and CW for current weight. Some of us  list our challenges last week and our goals for this week. Some people  set a goal for next week's weigh in - NWGW, some set a short terms STGW  (like the next 20lbs or to break the 200lbs mark) and others set a LTGW  or a final goal weight. Share whatever you are comfortable sharing.

The most important aspect of this entire process is let us know  when you are struggling or in need of support. We all will go through  this at one point or another and we promise to understand and not to  judge!

This was abetter week for me both food and exercise-wise. The only bad thing is the weather is so bad that we can't hike this weekend. The trails are nothing but mud slicks.

I hope everyone has a great weigh in!

I had a good week overall. One day went on a 13 mile bike ride. Walked 45 minutes most everyday but yesterday and yesterday I worked in my yard for 4 hours. Still struggling with wanting to eat between the time I finish dinner and go to bed. Trying to nibble on the right things during that time if I just have to eat something - no salt pretzels or peanuts, cherries or some kind of melon.

Severe heat advisory here in Indy this week, starting today. It probably is not wise for me to exercise outdoors so I have a back up plan to either go to LA Fitness or ride my indoors recumbent bike. People who are intent to exercise make backup plans and I am trying to become one of those people.

Looking to see more successes of fellow posters.

Wishing us all strength for our journey.

Hello Everyone,

This was my most diffucult week but it's over and tomorrow will be the beginning of a much better week.  About all I managed to do this week is keep track of the calories which were off the charts at times.  This is a stressful time for me at work every year because i have to turn in a business plan for the next year and still do all the other jobs I do on a daily basis.  I guess i used that as an excuse to skip my gym and not think about what I was eating as much as I should have.

Now that it's over I realize that exercise probably would have been a great stress reliever but I was on overload and fell into my old habit of eating to feel good.  The good news is today I got back on track with my calories and went back to the gym.

Thanks for giving me a place to admit to myself and others that I had a tough week, get it off my chest and say that my weight is the same as last week this morning which all things considered is a blessing.

Congratulations to all of you who have lost weight and thanks for the inspiration and motivation.

Have a great week!  Laughing

Yay to everyone:

Gary - having a back-up plan is a great idea and passing out from a heat stroke would definitely not do you ANY good! Making sure you have the right foods in the house are also key to long term success. It shows with a 3lb loss!

Susan - nice weight loss again this week... you are definitely going to make your goal!

Tom - you did just fine... you counted your calories, whether they were the count you wanted or not, you didn't gain this week AND you are getting back on the horse... WTG!

Looking for good news from our fellow posters.

Really Frustrated. On friday I was down three pounds but over the weekend Im back up two. Its a total loss of a pound but still. My activity level was way up on Saturday as well as my sodium levels and I did go over on calories both day by a couple hundred calories but I was in the negative total calories  both days. ... hopefully its just bloat I don;t know.

Rough week.  I didn't feel well, so I didn't do much in the way of exercise in the last half of the week, and I didn't count calories at all over the weekend.  I slept around 15 hours Saturday, though, and I feel much better!

I was up 2 pounds at one point this week, so I'm happy for any loss, even if it's only .6 pounds.  My goal for this week is to get back on track with my exercise and calorie counting and to keep working on developing a healthy routine.  It's great to see everyone's losses and to know that we're all pulling for each other.  I really appreciate everyone on this forum's honesty, positivity, and encouragement.  Best of luck this week!

Good job Erin, Gwyn, and Susan:) You inspire me.

Good job to you, too, Pamela!  5 pounds down!

Hello fellow losers.  Good job if your reading this!!!  It means your still here and working.  I was losing wieght fast and easy but the last few days I didn't lose I gained a pound.  The thing I love though is logging everything on this site so I can look and see whats been going on.  When I look back and see all the effort and pounds It is easier to want to continue.  Thank you all for always being here.

Eh...at least it didn't go up this week! Have a great week everyone! Melanie

Melanie, Wow!  You are so close to having lost 100 lbs!  I hope that a year from now, I'll be in your shoes!  Lead on!

Thanks to everyone in the group for their honesty and support.  I have this image of us all clinging on to one another as we wade a roaring river.  We'd never make it alone but we can get everyone to the other side as long as we hold on.  Not bad for a bunch of folks who have not actually met face-to-face!

3 DIY Tortilla Tricks
I love Mexican food—tacos with crispy shells, crunchy taco bowls and salty tortilla chips. But I could do without the extra calories, fat and sodium in the salty, often deep-fried tortillas served at many restaurants or the less-than-healthy packaged versions of these foods sold in the supermarket.
