I have around 100 pounds to lose.  I am ADDICTED to this site!!  So much in fact that I find myself spending too much time on the computer instead of taking care of things around the house.  I think if I limit myself to one day per week of writing/chatting/etc, I will find a harmonious balance.  Is anyone out there looking to do weekly weigh ins to keep motivated and on track?  I would like to set one day per week to do this, probably Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Hi Jen,

Me too I have 100 lbs to loose. I started on Jan 2nd (yeah- new year resolution) and so far I've lost about 20 lbs, and I'm loving it. To tell you the truth, I'm surprised the resolution lasted so long. And I think it's only because i'm addicted to CC as well.  I love reading, browsing, surfing the site. Hell, I'm in love with it. It's so helpful to me, and it's also where I get some of my motivation.

Regarding the weigh-Ins, I couldn't possibly do it everyday like some people, I'll just go nuts with the daily ups and downs. So instead, my weight-ins are Saturdays morning, as soon as I get up. The reason why I chose Saturdays is because I have a 7am-5pm job (I'm a manufacturing engineer) and work is always so busy, making it easier for me to stay on track on weekdays and not to be tempted with food (although we have a cafeteria at work and the smell is sometimes so flavorful...).  Weekends, I need motivation, and that's when my Saturday weigh-in comes in handy. When I lose some weight, then I wanna keep going. And when I gain or don't loose enough, then I feel like trying even harder. So here you go. Now u know my entire life :-)

Let me know which day you choose, and maybe we can do a motivation-competition kinda of thing.  You can find my stats on my profile. Take care, and can't wait to hear how you doing.

I weigh in on Saturdays and would be happy to post with you guys on that day! I started last weekend at 156.....see you this Saturday!!!
I don't mind weighing in, although I won't be able to tell you till Monday, b/c the pc is at work.  I'll be sure to weigh on Sat and tell you on Monday
I am in the same scenario as awilliams519 - I only have access to the internet at work (I spend WAY too much time on the computer during the week, I don't want it at home), so I would be able to weigh in on Monday.

I'll join you! I want to drop about 40 pounds.

I weighed in last Sunday at 200. I have already dropped 10 pounds!

See you on Sunday! Good Luck Ladies

Welcome everyone!!

I will be posting my weight on Saturdays, and also checking in Monday--awilliams and demila--and probably Sunday too, carie.  I think I will start doing my weigh ins on Saturdays so I can keep motivated too (good thought mraeann), and that's another reason to make sure I go to the gym on the weekends!!  I use their stand scale to make sure I have the most accurate weight.   I think what I will do is read everyone's stats as they are posted (unless you would rather email them to me?), then follow up with them the next weekend, preempting the new weigh in, just as a reminder.  If you have any suggestions or want to do something different, do not hesitate to tell me.  I have never done anything like this before, but thought of it because that is what Weight Watchers is so famous for--the weekly weigh ins amongst your peers in order to create some healthy competition (anyone here try WW in the past?).  So add whatever comments you would like.  I'm very flexible and open to new ideas, change, etc.  Would we like to set a deadline or goal date in order to establish some sort of competition?

I really have to kick it into gear if I want to remain on the downward trend this week!!  It's been a rough two days!

Looking forward to hearing from you!  Talk to you all soon!

hi everyone, i dont have to lose any weight. But i can help you guys on what to eat and do to get the weight off. I am just 16 years old, but my future dream career is to become a nutritionist. I take care of what my family eats, including my parents. My peak weight was exactly 150 pounds in the 7th grade. I had lost a total of almost 40 pounds. Since then i have gained 7 pounds because my parents thought i was too skinny. But my dream weight to stay at is 115. I am currently working on keeping my body within the 115-118 range. It is a healthy weight for my height of 5'7". But i didnt necessarily plan on loosing the weight. I went from doctor to doctor with these painful everyday stomach twists. They first diagnosed me with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. But they found that wasnt it. I then went to a more organic/hippie like doctor who tested my blood and found i was allergic to every kind of food you can imagine. The only meat i wasnt allergic to was beef. But if i did eat it at all it was TURKEY beef. Swithing over to turkey beef can cut down so much fat while you still get the protien you need. For approximatly 1.5 years i was on a diet of lettuce and italian dressing. No toppings what so ever. I was allergic to so much food including the major: dairy, wheat, gluten, meat.. anything, tomatoes, coffee beans, chocolate beans. And much much more. By the 8th grade i had gotten down to 130 pounds with the help of soccer and eating nothing but salad every day. I didnt eat breakfast and for luch and dinner i had lettuce. By the 9th grade i was stick thin and gained wieght to be in my healthy BMI zone. Now, im in the 10th grade and currently weigh within 116-119. I still feel self concious which may amaze you. But i always critisize my self on the little things i do have. If i could change anyting it would be my legs. I feel like i have a nice body but then my legs are like balloons.

During the 9th grade i found that i wasnt allergic to that food anymore. What i had was a disease ( i forgot the name, it starts with a C) anyways, what happens is if you stop eating the foods you are allergic to you are sort of doing like a detox. You can gradually regain your body into eating that food, once you know its actually digesting. So in the 9th grade i found i could eat so much more. It took a while to get my body back into, and it was very frustrating. Expecially during my cooking classes at school and i made food that i could never eat.

I would like to help. I feel i can help you all through this process. YOu just have to make a schedule. if you have kids, why not bring them to the gym with you. Its NEVER to early to get your kids fit. Did you know obesity levels are suppose to rise up between 80-90% by 2020? This is the main reason i would like to become a nutritionist. I can help kids and adults with self conscious issues. I still struggle these days whether anyone says i am or not. I feel like the commerical on tv with the anerexic girl who sees her fat ass body in the mirror. Now i know im not anerexic and im not even that skinny. Im at a good bmi of 18.5, but i do sometimes see my oldself in the mirror. And it hurts, it brings back the memories of when people made fun of me. Even those who i thought were my friends.

So, i can help! i know im just 16 but i have plenty of experience. I am very mature and someone can talk to me about anything. PLease, if you need the help im here. We can exchange aim screen names or emails. No need for anything personal. Just hear to help physically, mentally and emotionally. Because thats what gives me a smile. Is helping people who are in the position i was once in. I highly do not incourage eating only salad. It gives you no nutrition and i was looked at like a ghost. I was so very pale becuase of my malnutrition.

Im not saying were going to give up everything. We just need to cut out all the unnaturaly carbs and and put in the natural. Natural sugars can be found in grapes and raisens. Those are the sugars we need. The carbs we need can be found in potatos and broccoli. Not white bread. Switch to whole grain or wheat breads. Slowly change your milk. If you are on 2% go to 1% then to fat free gradually. You will realize how much more energy and happy you feel. I used to hate fat free milk but now i love it and i cant stand anything but. I probably drink 4 cups of milk a day or more. It helps build strong bones. Now if your someone who hates milk or cant drink much of it. Try taking calcium pills. My mother says milk hurts her stomach. What i have her doing is having at least 1-2 cups of milk a day. But drink it gradually. Because milk can give a stomach pain if drankin too fast.

With that said, please email me back here or at [moderator deleted email address as against posting guidelines] i would be glad to help. I know much more. I can help you and/or your kids live a happier and healthier life. Even some tricks on how to get your kids to eat vegetables without them even knowing it. They'll love it.

Tip: try eating whole grain scereals, low sugar/sodium oatmeals with added fruit. If you dont have the time to eat bereakfast in the morning, try making a protien shake to start off your day. thanks for taking this time to read my letter, pplease please dont hesitate to ask for help from me just because im only 16. thank you :)

true....so sweet of you to offer your help. I am pretty set on my nutritional needs and what works for me. But please stay focused on your health and goals for the future! Nutritionists and dieticians are the up and coming career of choice! We sure need them!
But I think this thread is primarily for "motivational weigh ins".
Scan the threads though. You could probably be such an inspiration to others. Especially gals and guys in their teens. Adults may be reluctant to accept advice from a 16 year old, but dont be put off! You keep up going after your goals!

See you all on Saturday! We are almost there! Good luck all! Skinny thoughts!!!
I totally agree with carie87...See you all on Saturday for our "motivational weigh ins"...2 more days to go
WOW!!  I had to read that several times before getting through the whole thing!!  I'm not a reader so when I see long documents, I tend to skip over them!!  I, too, agree with Carie.  See you Saturday.

OK, ladies!!  Here it is, the first Saturday of our weekly weigh ins.  Looks like I am the first to weigh in.  This week's figures:

249   -.5 from last week so I am satisfied.

Hopefully you all did better!!

~Jen

It looks like u did better than me, Jen.

03/01/08-274.2 (+0.8) from last week. I'm not complaining considering it is TTOM. Even more amazing, since i'm usually 3-4 lbs up.

Ladies?

Hello all!  I'm a "new old person" been on before but never managed to make it stick.  I will totally join in on the Saturday weigh-ins (205) this morning.  I always have trouble sticking with it but I've done it before (true it WAS 10 years agobut hey) so I can get it again.  If only I actually LIKED the food that's good for us!
Welcome losgan!  Glad to have you join us!

Well, I'm up 1.5 pounds from last week. I workout out 3 times, but I ate about 300 more calories last night at dinner then I should have, over my in-laws...It should come off again....Oh well!

Back to a better week. I;m going to Arizona at the end of the month to visit my parents and hope to be about 7 pounds lighter....Let's see if I can do it!

Can I join too?!  I've got about another 60 pounds to go (have lost about 20 so far).  I'd prefer Friday weigh-ins.

I just got back from a business trip.. I was gone Tues - Sat and am scared to death to step on the scale tomorrow =/

I am joining too  251.6 down 2.8 from last week.

hi all! i'd like to join the weekly weigh-ins. i started with CC january 15 and since then, have only lost 5lbs! i weighed myself yesterday, saturday. my weight is

168lb down 1lb from last week (though i gained 1lb last week so basically, nothing really happened)...

Hi everyone!

I think I'm a week late but I would love to join in on Saturday weigh ins.  I started my diet this past week with my starting weight at 173 and I weighed in this morning and lost 3lbs!!  For now, I've only set my goal for 160 but I would really love to get down to around 150.  I have in the past been here and tend to give up rather quickly.  For instance, my husband knows I've started this diet again, and what does he decide to make tonight?  Cookies!!!  I am intent on not eating one!  I would love the support and encouragement to stay motivated.  I just don't feel comfortable at all at the weight I'm at and would love to lose those nagging 15-20 lbs I gained after having my kids.

Thanks all,

Sandclan

Hello!

I'm hoping to join in!  After a very slow start, I finally got on the scale yesterday...but will change to Saturdays!  I was down one pound.  One down, forty-six to go!  Look forward to keeping up with everyone!
