Weekly weigh-ins for motivation
Hi! Anyone interested in joining me for a weekly weigh-in and to share your tips to stay motivated and on track each week? I could use some friends to hold me accountable to my plan. Weigh-ins each Monday. We can start with this basic format and change it up as we go along. Thanks for joining me!
Starting weight - 182
Current weight - 182
Ideal/Goal weight - 140
Height - 5'6"
Age - 45
Motivation tips/weekly thoughts - This summer was a non-starter because I didn't feel comfortable in a swimsuit, or shorts...or cute summer tops. Looking forward to looking good for the holidays and to think about next summer. So far, so good...
Those Oops moments - Thought about having chocolate this evening. Kept it a thought so no oops for me today.
This week's check in (let me know if we're supposed to be editing our original posts instead - I'm new to this
):
Starting weight - 228
Current weight - 197 (one pound loss since last week)
Goal weight - 138
Height - 5'7"
Age - 40
Motivation tips/weekly thoughts - I use circuit training machines that give you enersy and range of motion feedback, and I get really hung up on whether I "make the grade" or not. I need to remember that no matter how well I do (or don't do) according to the machines, I'm still working harder than I would if I were at home.
Those Oops moments - That weekend eating still gets me. My week is very structured, and my weekends more spontaneous. I still try to make good choices, but it's not the same as during the week when I have more consistency (and fewer choices).
Hello everyone. I did good with my eating and exercising this week. I loss 3.2 pounds. Congratulations Kristinkay26 for your loss. ![]()
Starting weight: 227.6
Current Weight: 219.2 ( 3.2 pounds loss since last week)
Goal Weight: 130
well not sure what happened this week - i was down 2 pounds on saturday morning from the week before, but this morning i am up again. seems like i keep playing around with 1.8 pounds - lose it, gain it, lose it . . . frustrating. that first ten pounds was so easy and now it is getting harder!
sooooo -
weight on 7-20: 150.3
weight today 7-27: 149.6
loss: 0.7 pounds
goal weight: 135
Day of reckoning: 7/27/09

Previous weight - 200
Current weight - 198
Change over last week - (-2 lbs since joining the board last Wednesday!)
Ideal/Goal weight - 135
Height - 5'6"
Age - 41
Motivation tips/weekly thoughts - Thank goodness my kids like going to the gym with me since it's very easy to make time for it when they're nipping at my heels. Been very diligent about taking my multi-vitamin and fish oil pills. Starting to notice a shift in my energy level... Yay!!!
Those Oops moments - Lamb chops on the grill last night. Two Miller Lights on Friday night.
Monday, July 27, 2009
Starting weight - 182
Current weight - 177
Ideal/Goal weight - 140
Height - 5'6"
Age - 45
Motivation tips/weekly thoughts - I was pleasantly surprised to get on the scale and see a 5 pound loss this first week. The truth is that I did not exercise. But I was very careful about watching my calories and my portions. I also took an appetite suppressant once a day to help me get through. I start to get hungry in the late afternoon/early evening and need help to get past that hunger and not splurge on unhealthy food or huge portions.
Between my work and my children, life can get pretty stressful. I wanted to start losing weight without stressing myself out more and failing. So I made the decision to start with calorie counting and portion control and figured I would add the exercise when I could.
I am out of town for business this week and weighed in yesterday at home so that I had a consistent scale to work with. So, I did pick out 4-5 exercises that I can do each day in a hotel room and I will try to use their gym as well...brought my workout clothes.
Those Oops moments - the wine! At about 150 calories a glass, wine can do real damage to my calorie counting. So do I start planning for that glass within my calories allowed each day or do I have it as an extra "splurge" for myself?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for checking in and sharing your progress everyone! I hope we all had a good week and are feeling positive about the week ahead.
Kristinkay26 -Congratulations on the one pound loss! Every pound counts and taking it slow is real and healthy progress. The weekend eating is difficult for me as well. The rest of the family is all over the place with meals and I find myself eating without thinking. Keep up the good work.
Yvette120 -Congratulation on your 3.2 pound loss!Whatever you are doing is working, so keep up the great work.
Stillwatergirl - Sorry to hear of your frustration, but you did lose that half a pound, so pat yourself on the back for that. You are still going in the right direction. Perhaps you need to add another workout to your week in order to get over this little bump?
Ibnutt - Where are you at for your plan to lose the weight? Have you started counting calories, or started working out or are on a program? I want to encourage you to just start watching your daily calories because I have found that it is a good first step. There are lots of tools and advise on this site and I hope you can find something to start you on your way.
Ariesmoon919 - Congratulations on the two pound drop! Excellent. You sound like you are still really motivated too. The wine and the beer - ugh! I have that same issue. Can't give it up so how to fit it into my weight loss plan. Total deprivation would not work.
I am so thankful for all who have shared your progress this week and for sticking to your plans. It is tremendously helpful to log in and see others that are trying just like I am. I have had to resist the urge to try some of these quick weight loss supplements that pop up when searching for dieting help on the web. I know the weight loss will not last and I do want to do this the right way to change my lifestyle for the long run.
5 POUNDS desertbleau...AWESOME!!!! That is exciting to read...especially knowing you didn't exercise. I wish my body were that willing to let go of the weight.
Your weight loss reminds me that I need to get back to being very strict with my portion control also. Last week I was slack from being gone to a funeral and veging all weekend.
So do I start planning for that glass within my calories allowed each day or do I have it as an extra "splurge" for myself? I always plan for it and add it into my calorie count that day. My thinking is I can splurge once in a while but knowing me like I do I'll do it too often. By counting those calories I don't feel like I've cheated and I feel better about it knowing I factored it in and didn't go over my daily caloric goal.
Keep doing what you're doing though...it's working well ![]()
I would love to join your weekly weigh-ins . Hopeful it will help me stay motivated.
starting weight 282
current weight 255
goal 180
height 5'4"
age 48
Motivation: To show a geuine desire, couple that with action, and you too can enjoy the Good Life
OOPs moments: passing the gym saying I will go back I just need to get something from the house and not going bask or doing anything
desertbleau, 5 pounds is incredible -- congrats!
Regarding the alcohol, I struggle too... it seems bad to count it toward daily intake since they're empty calories and your body needs nutrients. I realized a while back that drinking while dieting doesn't really work for me so I try to be good... but Friday night is a killer. As noted, I am willing to forgive myself a beer or two and move on. ![]()
stick with red wine - it has lots of antioxidants - and i just heard this morning it can boost your sex life = which could mean more calorie burn ;)
i used to allot myself calories for a beer in the evening - that is my one thing that was hard to not have. but once i started cutting that back i found i didn't crave it as much anymore. so now i am having like 2 beers a week rather than one every night (umm, with the exception of this past weekend - girls night out, outdoor concert on the river . . .).
anyway, keep up the great work everyone!
desrtblueau - thanks for the encouragement. yes, i added some more workout to my week that i hope will get things going again.
I hope it is not too late to join! I have been on CC since June 3, 2009 and could use some accountability.
Starting weight 318
Last Weeks weight 293.6
Current Weight 291.8
Since I have so much to loose I give myself mini goals - my next mini goal is 286.2 (10% off original weight). My first one was to get under 300!
Goal 185
We worked really hard this weekend cleaning out a storage unit that we won in an auction (I love auctions) anyway, burned like 5000 calories a day this weekend but did not up my calorie intake, we worked our butt of so I am sure that will help in the long run. My dogs help me to take a walk most days, up to about 1.8 miles a day without feeling like I am dying! LOL. I have noticed one good change, when I go up stairs to my bedroom, I am not out of breath!! YEAH.
Opps moment...did not plan ahead for being out and about all weekend, ended up feeling starving all day and did not have enough water. I need to be better prepared... by the time we took a break I could have eaten the cardboard boxes!!!
jenkinsj_99............Congrats to you on your weight loss thus far! Sounds like you are on the right track by setting your mini goals. I started counting my cals 5 days ago and joined CC 3 days ago. I knew I had reached a point in my life where i had to do something. I was at the highest weight ever, more than when I was pregnant.
Starting was 243 and I am down 3 lbs.
As far as eating out and planning ahead. I love to use the tools on CC. I plug in restaurant names etc, and write down several different choices of eats that I can have, to keep within the cals for day. Now I need to work on not eating out so much so that other things on the menu don't tempt me to go off track.
Keep up the good work!
Hi there I am a newbie just joined yesterday and would love to join the weekly weigh in or am I to late?
I was looking at computer for a cal count and found this site which is great ,especially I have an idea on what cal I need to be taking in and if I have the time I can wright down the cals I use what I have left,I still am wondering on how much my fat percentage I shall be taking in each day???? does any1 know?some say I shall be worried about sodium but If there is salt in the foods then I never touch it or the process foods except the odd WW or lien cuisine meals,
I have lost weight but find my self going back n forth at this same weight for a year!!!!!so being able to talk to others who are like me wanting to lose the weight, tone up this will help me to be more motivated for wright my progress down that others see will keep me focus otherwise I am alone and only have me ',lol
I am 5'4 Grew an inch after 21 years,lol
Starting weight 138
Goal weight 125,
It is funny up till my son was 3, I was my whole life at 105 and know be happy to be in my 120's lol![]()
Hello everyone. Okay, we are another week closer to our goals. I love the inspirational words that Beadedbelle wrote last week. We'll keep them in mind again for this week. if anyone has some words of support this week, let's hear them!:
I am an intelligent person.
I will control my emotions and not let my emotions control me.
Every time I am tempted to use food to satisfy my frustrated desires, build up my injured ego or dull my senses I will remember that even though I overeat in private my excess poundage is there for all the world to see.
I WILL TAKE OFF POUNDS SENSIBLY.
Poppiegee - Cheers to the Good Life! May it belong to us all. Ok, I'll try my hand at helping you with the gym thing...there's the gym - we're walking, we're walking, we're in , we're there! (your manta for the week
)
Jenkinsj- Congratulations on breaking the 300 mark! Really, that is a huge accomplishment - Bravo! You should be quite proud of your loss to date. Keep up the great work.
Liveforlife - Congratulations on the 3 pound loss! Pat yourself on the back for a job well done this week. You're three pounds closer to your goal.
Powermom - It is never too late to join in. Ah,... the sacrifices we make on our bodies for our children - but it is so worth every pound. Welcome!
As for me today, I finally started my workouts. I went on the treadmill for 30 minutes, jogged 2.5 miles and burned 334 calories. I know that my weight loss this week was pure luck and water weight, but it sure made me feel good and I am motivated to keep going.
I'll take the advise of my CC friends and plan my glasses of wine within my calorie count. Thanks for your suggestions and advise.
I almost forgot - for those of you feeling frustrated this week, I have something that will bring a smile to your day, if not downright rip-roaring laughter.
Visualize this: I get back to my room after working out at the gym and I've been sweating like a pig. I get my shirt off and then attempt to take my sports bra off....but I can't. It is sticking to me and I am tired from also doing bicep curls with free weights, so I can't get my crossed arms over my head to get it off. So there I am with the bra half off, hung up over one shoulder, not flexible enough to get my arms free, flinging my body around struggling to get free and knocking myself around the room. In the end, I feel down on the bed with laughter and finally managed to get it off. It would have made a great funniest video entry!![]()
Good luck at the gym this week!!!
Hi all I am new at this and I am all in too. I could use the encouragement to
keep up in the workout that I do with curves 4days a wk. Today I am so sore
as I worked out for 1hr and burned 410 calories. I just started last Monday and
have been keeping count of calories which is hard for me cause I am use to eating
only 1 meal aday. But I am committed! What to lose 90lbs.
