Weekly Weigh In - Slimming Buddy required!
Hey does anyone want to have a weekly weigh in with me, might push me to avoid that extra glass of wine or chocolatey treat if I know I'm going to have to deliver bad news - Let me know if anyones up for it!!!
I am currently 232lb with a goal of losing 5lb every 2 weeks, (Down to an ideal 126lb)
Limiting myself to 1500 calories a day
Doing 30 minutes on the Wii Fit (Rhythm Boxing, Step Aerobics with 2 x 2.4kg weights, Yoga & Muscle Workouts), 30 minutes on my exercise bike (16-18mph) while watching Gilmore Girls!!
and walking to and from work (60 minutes)
Of course at weekends I might let myself have 1800 calories and do minimal exercise except maybe go swimming for half an hour! (And I stress maybe)
Other stats, I am 5ft3 (Titch), 25 years old, female, Irish, Size 18-20 in UK Clothes sizes. Can't think of anything else but would love a slimming buddy if anyones interested!!!
Oddly enought the weekends are harder for me to get my calories in, so I'm working on that.
Other than that, I'm 5ft6, 36 years old, female, American and I'm wearing 16-18 tops and 18 bottoms.
What day do you want to be the "official" weigh in day?
I'd love to join. We are currently doing a weight loss motivation at work but it ends this month and it does help to be accountable.
I am 29, female, American currently 243 lbs and 5'2", not sure on my size, but my 22 pants are getting loose and my bust is down 3 inches (now at 51.5). I started CC in March and weighed in at 266lbs, so down 23 lbs.
I am currently sticking between 1200-1500 cal. per day, doing 40 mins(2 miles) on the treadmill and weight lifting at least 3 times a week, though it's sometimes hard beacuse I am a nurse and I work odd hours and 12 and 16 hour shifts.
I am starting the original power 90 videos (not P90x, not in good enough shape) this week though so I can fit workouts into my schedule better. Short-term goal is to be under 200 by the end of the summer, would love to be down 100lbs. by my 30th birthday in January, and long term would be happy to get to about 140-145.
What day for the weigh-in?
We've all put in our current weights so how about every Wednesday. I'm on a totally different timezone to yous but if we all clock in on a Wednesday that would be a full week each to do our best!! Starting to get worried now!
PS Congrats you both on being so good - I find it really hard to limit myself to 1500 and you're both on 1200!! I do try and exercise to make up for it!
gcak - who so hard to get calories in at the weekend, I tend to go home and my family eat big dinners and lots of junk so those are my more difficult times!
Jasherman super congrats on the 23lb - thats fantastic.
I'm looking forward to the day the Wii Fit tells me I'm overweight rather than obese - must check what that BMI will be.
Anyway thanks for joining me in my struggle and good luck for the week you two!!
Hi can i join please, i have no family near so i find it hard to lose wieght on my own.
I currently weigh 266lbs and want to lose weight for my holiday x
Really the more the merrier!!
Supports necessary in this weightloss game. Whats your weekly goals, daily calorie intake and or exercise routine.
All tips welcome by the way! I eat grapefruit every morning for breakfast because it starts your metabolism for the day, an apple before lunch for the same reason and lemon in hot water in the afternoon because it helps the body to not retain water which I am drinking alot of to avoid snacking just now!!!
Anyone got any other ideas pls pls pls let me know, thanks, V
got room for one more?????
there are alot of groups out there but most have been going for a while and I would love to start fresh with a group.
I am a respiratory therapist....not shift work for me either though

GW 135 by ASAP LOL
my short term goal is to be at 250 by Aug. 1st have a hot date with this certain group called DAUGHTRY.....
I go to the gym and walk 40 appr. 2.3 miles and do weights for about 15 min...I need to up that...and I plan to start aerobics classes next week at least twice a week...so I would love to be a part of this group.
Tammy
Hey guys:
Can I jump on the band wagon?
I am 36 years old and am currently 231 lbs. My goal is to lose 2.3-4.6 lbs per week (1-12% of my body weight), and ultimately to come down to 150 pounds by January 2009. My calorie allowance is 1440 calories per day- generally I try to eat between 1200 and 1440 and to stick to one high calorie day that doesn't exceed 2000 calories. Food is proving to be my biggest challenge- sugar cravings, emotional eating and out and out self-sabotage has been happening at a frequency of about once per week ever since I started my weight loss journey in December. I am working on it and getting mixed results.
I do about 1.25-1.5 hours of strength training 4 times per week and 1 hour cardio once per week- that's my minimum. If I'm feeling adventurous I throw in some Budukon, Biggest Loser Workouts, Walkaerobics, Billy Blanks or Denise Richards (whichever appeals to me at the time).
I'm from the Caribbean- not too sure what sizes I'm wearing right now. My clothes are too big and they're between 18W and 20 W, so I assume I may be a 16W (American scaling), at present. I'm trying to avoid shopping until I know I can definitely get something off the rack!!!.
No tips stand out for now Feely, except that you may not need to be using the lemon in hot water. If you give your body alot of water, then it would interpret it as not being in a drought, so it would not hold onto the water (much the way that it would not hold onto fat once it believes that there is no famine). I'm following a guideline of 1 oz water to every 2 lbs weight (14.5 glasses for me) and that seems to be flushing me pretty well.
See you all later
I walk a lot but as i am a student ODP (theatre nurse) the times i eat and things i eat vary every week. When im on placement i am on my feet all day, but when im at uni i walk my son to school everyday.
I go swimming twice a week with my daughter and i really want to go to the gym but dont have the confidence.
Thanks x
Wow - its fantastic to have so many people interested. I think a good big support group could be amazing. And I think the Wednesday weigh in could be perfect - long enough after my sometimes naughty weekends but not quite the end of the week - hope everyones okay with that!
ljohnson I know exactly what you mean about the confidence thing - I'm the kind of person who acts hyper confident but really isn't!! Thats why I got my exercise bike and the wii fit. I duno whether its as good a routine as you'd get in the gym but its a great start.
Thanks for the advice sbeverly - I did have weeks with minimal weight loss and did think my body was retaining the water so maybe going by body weight would be a good idea. After all it is good for you!!
Again glad theres so many here and can't wait (with slight worry) til next Wednesday for the first weigh in!!
Hi All!
Pretty frustrating day, so I'm really having to will power my way thru not wanting to just eat for that reason alone!
Feely, the reason I have a hard time is because my kids are ages 4 and 2 and I'm a late riser, so usually no breakfast, minimal lunch, I try not to eat right before I work out and that's in the evening, and with chasing the kids and trying to get ready for the next week, I just kinda forget. Now I'm an absolute slave to iced coffee, so I usually sip on that.
It's really great having so many of us, my family's not close by either and my best girlfriends all live in out of town. My hubby's supportive, but seeing as how he's not overweight, he really doesn't get it.
My new's thing is obsessivly weighing, every day, morning and night. I know, I know completely unhealthy behavior. So I'm hoping the support here will help.
On a good note, I had been struggling getting in more than 900 calories a day, but after only losing 5lbs last month, I'm really working to get my 1200 in a day and so far so good. 1271 for today I think.![]()
Hey Feely, what's the time difference between us?
Hope everyone had a great day!
Blesssings!
gcak, the time difference depends what state you're in, Ireland and USA times can vary from 4 to 10 hours difference. America is a very big country, Ireland, not so big!! lol
Okay all, its confession time, I had a bad day yesterday. I have got some yuky cold and I am feeling incredibly sorry for myself so I did no exercise besides my usual walk to and from work, which I guess is 60 minutes walking. I also ate a lemon fairy cake, homemade chips and about 50g of chocolate spread!!!
I am very weak and when I feel crap all I want to do is eat bad stuff! It doesn't help that my fiances in the same boat, feelin crap and eating junk!!
I'm back on the band wagon today, lemon tea, tomato soup, freshly prepared spicy curry for tea (hopefully these will help with the cold) and fresh fruit smoothies to get me through work.
My fiances running the Belfast marathon on Monday so hopefully we're all better by then - I aim to run with him next year, Jordan and Peter style - duno if you guys know who they are but I am seriously kidding - horrible wannabe famous people!
Take care all, hope yas are havin a better time than me!
I think im goin to start swimming rather than go straight for the gym, my little girl has just turned three and my gym do this deal. Once your child turns three they can go in the creche 2 hours a day for £12 a mth. So i am goin to have loads of time to go swimming and not have any more excuses lol. Weds sounds great better get swimming lol.
Yes i do use the wii fit aswell. x
Good plan, swimming is very good exercise, I must make a conscious effort to go swimming myself this weekend.
Do you do step aerobics on the wii fit ljohnson - just mine never seems to register the green steps or the one where you lift your other leg up but it doesn't touch the board - really irritates me. Sometimes itll register but ages after - does this happen you???
I lost bout 2 stone when i was 15 years old i went swimming once a week for an hour and i had an increably flat stomach, better then the running machine lol. So now i try to pull my tummy in as i swim.
I do, do stepping on the wii fii tend to do i little jump (not a huge one or might break it lol) when you lift the other foot off for the green one and they tend to register straight away, does that make sense?
gcak9800 you did the right thing by getting back on the wagon today...we all have those days and if you do not beat yourself up and start anew you can make it...hang in there...hope your cold gets better
I have a question...a stone is how many lbs...if anyone knows?
my day is going ok..I did go to then gym yesterday because I let life get in the way...but I am eating good and will jump back on the wagon today...I want at least a 3lbs loss this week...
we have a pool at our gym but I haven't been in a bathing suit in over 3years..LOL..but I love to swim so maybe I will give it a shot...need to change up things and keep them interesting..
Hey Tammy,
A stone is 14 pounds. Looks like we're all going to make a conscious effort to go swimming this week! Good call.
gcak - I get your hectic weekend now, kids are adorable terrors!! I have a niece and nephew who are always asking what can we do now!! Luckily I give them back though would love kids myself some day!
Unfortunately I do nothing but eat all weekend. I get up weekdays at 6:30 so naturally wake at 9 at the latest on weekends, eat big breakfasts, big lunches cos I' bored and big dinners cos I figure its the weekend. My sister is a fabulous hostess based on her ability to have a huge quantity of yummy treats to hand all the time - bad news for my figure!
Nothing bad today yet, going good :) Hope you're all keeping well too!
Hey guys, just checking in.
ljohnson, sometimes you just have to do it. Let people say what they have to say, think what they think but you just do it. Sometimes I go walking around a training ground close to me- usually its cool. Nobody gives me a problem. But one day there was this group of boys that was sitting in the stand and they started to hassle me. I got so mad I went up and confronted them. I ended up not going back for quite a while because I didn't want to be hassled again. But in the end, who did that benefit? They would have forgotten it by the following day. I missed my walking for a few months, and that was the only time in about 4 years that anybody had made unkind comments to me. There'll always be an idiot around ready to try to make a person feel bad. You're doing this for you, so if the gym is the best place for you to achieve your goal, don't let the shortsightedness of others stand as an obstacle in your path. Believe in yourself enough to know that you will weather that storm if and when it happens.
feely- Wednesday check-in will be fine. I'm now covered for the entire week because I have Friday check in with my other online programme, Sunday checkin with a Biggest Loser Challenge within my family and now Wednesday check-in. When's a girl got time to slip
. Up and down weeks will come regardless (this week is one of my down), but if you ride through it, you will get closer to your goal. 60 minutes walking is alot- for alot of people that counts as their workout for the day, but I know its not the same as you can't pump up the intensity like if you were working out. Glad to hear that you're back on the band wagon.
gcak-sorry to hear that. Hope all went well in the end. I've been having that kind of week as well, so I totally understand. I also do the scale thing, but the only weight I actually register to myself as true is the one that comes up on my official weigh-in days. Congrats on going over the 1200 mark.
tammy- some days are like that, its how fast you recover from it that will get you to the finish line. You sound like you have a good plan.
And as for me, I've struggled big-time this week with a ridiculous level of tiredness that I cannot explain at all. It crept up last Friday which led to some very poor eating choices on that way. By the by, I love love love Tunnocks Caramel, which does not post their calories on their packages. So when I had my step off sanity on Friday I ate two caramels (as well as a few other things). Came onto cc to try to calculate the damage. I'm assuming that all of you on that lovely island that created this snack know what I am talking about- turns out a caramel has 454 calories. Went over 900 calories with those two caramels alone. Hmmm- had to know that there is a reason why they print everything else except calorie information.
Anyway, I've been watching my calories religiously since then and exercising, but the tiredness is not helping my workout. I'm not expecting great things from the scale this week based on how its going so far, which is hard because based on my past patterns, I should have lost about 5 pounds this week, and I am trying to lose another 7.5 by the Biggest Loser finale. But I guess the important thing is that I am still hanging in there.
Good Evening All,
Well, my strssful week is almost over
I'm still really fighting "head" hunger, but hey for the first time in a really long time, I beat it today!!!! It sounds like everyone is kinda in the same boat, not that I wish this on anyone, but it is nice to know I'm not alone.
It's amazing to me how much everyone loses in a week. I do good to loose 9lbs in a month.
Sbeverly, I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one with the scale addiction![]()
Tammy it's sooo funny, you and I are kinda using the same concept to motivate for our short term goal! I know they say that you should only lose weight to be healthier, well I discovered a long time ago, that doesn't always work. But knowing you're going to possibly meet someone that you really admire does. Now the trick will be meeting our goals and hopefully the changes will be embedded enough that we stick with it. I guess that's why we have each other.
Feely, The big family weekends sound divine! I'm completely jealous. Oh, duh, I guess it would help to know where in the US I am huh. I'm in Texas! I have a dream though to visit 2 countires: Greece and Ireland.
I thought I'd try to post a tip everytime I post, so here's the first one
1. If I get the munchies, I stop and ask: am I tired, stressed or thirsty. If the answer is no, then I drink a glass of water or unsweet tea wait 15minutes and if I'm still wanting something, then I'll eat a snack.
Hope everybody has the best Friday!
Hope everyone had a great Friday. I'll be going out of town tomorrow morning, so I'll catch up with everyone on Sunday afternoon.
Hope everyone has a pleasant weekend.
