I've just "refreshed" my membership and thought that I would check in on this thread - it seems so encouraging to see so many lovely people making great progress!
I work in kg's rather than pounds, but I think 1 kg = about 2.5 pounds.

I don't have a goal weight as such, I just aim to loose half a kg a week if I can :) I'm a (returning) student, with an all-too-convenient cafe at school and because I'm studying to become a wine-maker, I also have sampling too - and alcohol is a big issue for me. I need to learn to control my food so that when I am drinking, it won't have such an impact (or end in late-night take away runs).

Hey gang! Not completely new to CC, but new to figuring out forums and reading through these things, so I thought I'd join a group and give it a go. A little of my background....I was always the athletic type in high school and honestly never thought about my weight or what I was eating. Well, I graduated college and stopped all my sports, but not my eating habits and after a couple of years, I began to realize I was putting on some weight. It also should not go unspoken that I coach sports for youth, so I never wore "fitted" clothes and coaching pants and elastic waistbands with oversized shirts hide a weight gain for a long time. LOL But working with youth and setting an example is part of the drive behind my weight loss too.
Anyway, I have had 2 children in less then 2 years. It scared me because with my 1st child I went over 200lbs for the first time in my life. I started over 200 when I got pregnant with my second child and when I delivered in June of 08, I did so at 250lbs.....certainly NOT a number I ever in my wildest dreams I would have imagined being at. For purposes of my weight loss story, saying I started at 250 last June sounds much more dramatic, but here are my realistic stats:
Starting weight: 212lbs (Jan 09)
Current weight: 190lbs (Thank you CC!)
Goal weight: 175lbs by end of June 09 with a long term goal of 160lbs. Still heavier then I ever imagined being, but a huge step in the right direction and a realistic goal that I can get to someday and then possibly re-evaluate.

Hi everyone! I joined CC about a week ago and have found it very helpful so far. Tracking the calories I eat was a real eye opener and made it very easy to see why I wasn't losing weight even though I felt like I wasn't eating a ton. My biggest obstacle is that I'm an Emotional Eater...happy, I eat; sad, I eat; to celebrate something, we go out to eat; stressed, I eat. And I find that my "grazing" gets worse in the week or so before that time of the month. Exercise can be tough because I have really bad knees so things like jogging, squats, lunges are out. I have been doing some toning exercises like leg lifts and bun clenchers, and I brisk walk 2.5 miles almost every day and we have a Total Gym that I use for my arms, and I've seen some firming, I think. But, I'm almost 35 and it's time to get this under control! My parents were both heavy and didn't teach healthy eating habits and my husband is a junk-food junkie which makes it hard to say No sometimes. But, I'm finally realizing that, regardless of anyone else or what anyone else does, I'M in control of MY life! I keep telling myself that if I can get my body where I want it to be, I'll never let it get out of control again. My husband and I are going to Hawaii for his 40th birthday at the end of September and I really want to feel confident in a swimsuit...bikini??...kind of as a birthday present to him, but also for me. So, my stats:

This website keeps saying that my goal is too drastic by July and they think it will happen by October but I've been trying to get to the gym 3-4 times per week and doing some extra walking at work I REALLY want to do it!... The weekends are really hard for me 1.) becausse my friends want to go out to dinner and drinks 2.) its hard to get the motivation to get to the gym Does anyone have any pointers for me?!

Hi everyone,
I'm also new to CC. The Dr's office weighed me at 199 some time last year. Since then I've been haphazardly trying to cut back on the junk, but I'd been hovering in the 185-188 range. So, now that we're going to Mexico this summer, I've gotten serious. I'm so excited to be in the low 170's! I can see a difference in my appearance, and so can my poor husband, who married me when I was lil' 122 lb stick. 2 kids later, and a career move to a desk job... you all know how it is. Sad thing is, I can remember when the thought of weighing 170 was totally unacceptable! And now I can believe how great I look at 173. So far, I've lost 26lbs, only 33 more to go!

Sorry it's been awhile but I kind of fell off the band wagon. But I just found out that I'm going on a cruise in December so I really want to lose weight by then so I'm back! lol.

I just joined this website today at work. I love it very much and better yet...it's FREE :) I can't wait to see progress. I tried weight watchers with no success and my work is doing a weight loss contest until June 23,2009. I don't like to lose at anything so I need to learn to get up, work-out, and put away the carbs and crap food!

Hey peepz! So I've read down a few of ya'll and think I probably take first place in the heavy weights! I watch Biggest Loser and see girls that weigh the same as me or more, but to me they look more "chunkier." Makes me wonder if I'm not looking at myself hard enough or... what? Anyway, I can't believe I'm going to tell the world my weight... but at this point... who cares, right? Maybe by having ya'lls support I'll keep at it and lose this weight!
My husband and I will be trying for a baby soon. Over the past two years I had a miscarriage of twins and a pre-mature labor. I only gained 17 pounds during the 2nd pregnancy... it was the depression that added more. I'm ready to get my life going back in the right direction.
I would like to loose 20-30 pounds before I get pregnant again. I've always been the chunky girl growing up, but am proud to say I lost 40 pounds AFTER I got married in Dec 2005! WOOT! So I know I can do this. I've just got to stick to the diet AND exercise. Keep me on track!
