3 weeks and only 3 pounds
hey everyone! i am very new to this site so its nice to see people talk about common thoughts! anyways I have started a healthier eating plan about 3 weeks ago..
For brekfast- granola cereal and coffee
Lunch-Protiene bar (230cal) or salad or high protiene meal
Snack-almonds or nuts or hummis and wheat crackers
Dinner-fish or chicken with salad and side veggies And sometimes red wine 2 glasses
And plenty of water thro the day
I used to weigh about 135 and now due to not caring for a year im 150 and would love to be back to 130-135. But i feel like i am not losing any weigh. my body energy is differnt but i dont look differnt in a bikini!! any comments?
and how many calories does that all come up to (i refuse to do the math for you) and if your life is void of exercise... well that might be why its so slow.
around 1400 calories and i do about a 30 min exercise on the eliptical and then some abs and streching/yoga
Some members here would kill to lose three pounds in three weeks.
Be proud of yourself. You are doing just fine.
One pound a week is a good pace.
Go up to 30-60min on the elptical, and how often you do that? 6 days a week?
Three pounds in three weeks is a great start. Keep it up, and tweek a little if you really need a faster result. Tweek=increase length and/or intensity of workouts.
I started my weight loss 20 months ago, and in all that time, I've lost more than three pounds in three weeks only once. ONCE it was 4 pounds in three weeks.
What are your stats, height and age? A quick way to estimate your BMR is your weight * 11 so 1400 is below what you need to survive. This could be part of the problem, but a pound a week is not bad either, 1-2 is the healthy range. Secondly your cardio amount is fine if you want to totally start burning calories you need to add weight training into you work out regime not only does this burn a good a mount of calories up front but it also continues to burn calories after the fact in two ways. Number one it takes about 30+ hours for your body to repair the muscle once it has been torn down due to weight training. Secondly for each pound of muscle you gain you burn an extra 30+ calories just to maintain it. That would be = 3lbs of fat burned in a year just by maintaining the pound of muscle, not a bad return on investments if you ask me. Take a look at your caloric needs by using the calculator offered by CC and make sure you are getting the amount you need each day, add the weights and you will have no problem losing the weight.
I know how you feel! I'm 25 years old, 5'3 and 138 pounds down from 142. I've been eating about 1300 calories a day, and doing intense cardio 3 times a week for about an hour. It took me almost a month to lose 4 pounds!! The weird thing is I lost two pounds the first week, 0 the next, 1 the following and 1 the last. Its really frustrating when I hear my friends talking about losing 3 to 4 pounds a week!! What am I doing wrong? I feel ya!
I started 9 weeks ago and have lost 9 pounds--I now weigh 136, the lowest I've been in 16 years! (I'm 38). I have never stayed on a "diet" this long before, and although I've lost more weight faster, it's always come back (and then some). I'm trying to look at this as a lifestyle change--something I will do the rest of my life to maintain when I do reach my goal. Just keep at it, gradual loss is the best way!
This method of calorie counting and working out seems to be the only logical way to maintain or lose weight. Most quick diets work only for a short time. Don't get discouraged because I felt like I didn't accomplish much at first but now that I have lost 12 lbs in 2.5 months I think of this differently. Think of it as losing 50 lbs in one year. Good luck and keep up the good work!
I average a pound a week, i dont see what the problem is?? keep going, the slower it comes off the more likely you are to keep it off :)
1 lb per week is exactly where you should be. I have set a goal of weighing in once per week and all I want to see is 1 number lower. If more - GREAT, If less - I keep at it, but 1 per week is fantastic.
I'm down 30 since October 2nd, 2007 at 11:30am!
Thansk everyone..sounds like i am on the right path just excited to start seeing results and get rid of this extra weight!!!
A pound a week is great, that means you are probably not losing lean tissue, and you are losing fat instead... Losing a pound a week is said to be the healthiest way to go!
I would LOVE to lose a lb a week. It took me almost 3 months to lose 7 lbs. Keep it up!
Hi, LaLauren,
Do you eat any fruits?
Dont forget about measurements! that is a lot better tool in progress than what the scale says.
I wasnt seeing the results when I first started dieting & exercising to lose the 20 lbs I gained after I quit smoking on the scale, but after I started taking my measurements weekly, I noticed a big change!
Remember, muscle weighs more than fat, so if you're working out & not loosing actual pounds, you very well could (and should) be getting leaner.
