weeks where you see no loss

Quote  |  Reply

I had two days in the middle of last week where I had to go out of town suddenly and I didn't eat like I should - but it KILLS me that those two stupid days are the reason I didn't lose a single ounce. When it's already tough to lose a pound a week it feels like such a waste to do well for 5 days and badly for 2 days and see no progress.

(monday's are my weigh in days which is why this being posted now - blah. i hate setbacks...but okay, here we go with yet another 7 days of this counting business - after a few months now it's starting to get annoying)

Think about it.  There will come a point in the future where you are the weight you need to be.  And then every week thereafter (with any luck) you will be roughly the same weight as the previous week.  So it pays to start finding other ways to feel good about your healthier lifestyle and have other ways of measuring success besides the number on the scales at the end of the week.

Also...   It should be enjoyable in its own right rather than being a 'counting business'... a means to an end.  If you don't enjoy your food choices or your exercise routine you'll end up going straight back to your old habits and yo-yo-ing back to your old weight.

So treat a week where you stay the same weight as a rehearsal for maintenance and a different sort of success.... not as something 'annoying'.

Jane -- GREAT point about thinking of a week with no weight loss as "a rehearsal for maintenance and a different sort of success"!!!  Thank you!

How come I’m not losing weight?

Your workout routine is commendable but you are eating too many calories to lose weight. 1500-1700 calories a day is more like a maintenance... Read more
