2 weeks, no weight loss

Quote  |  Reply

Okay, I am sure I am beating a dead horse, & there are lots of posts like this, but for two weeks I have changed my diet, I have been doing the exercise plan on here, & no matter what I do, the scale won't move. I am sure I have gained muscle, I can tell I have, but it's still not the same as seeing that scale show the hard work.

I eat around 1,330 cal like it says. I have my activity on light because I have a two yr. old, & spend a lot of time chasing her around. I have changed my exercise from almost all cardio, to the intermediate plan recommended on here.

I realize water weight, & added muscle plays a part. Just really needed to vent....

Don't worry, give it a little more time and I'm sure you'll see the scale move. I know how frustruating it can be. I think your right about the muscle gain or water gain. Watch the sodium intake because you'd be suprised at how much sodium is in sooo many foods. Hang in there and stay positive. I just started working out again and eating healthier. My problem is accountability and being consistent. Sometimes I think that I'll never reach my fitness goal because it seems like so much work, but I know that it has to be a lifestyle change and the weight will come off over time. Also, don't focus too much on the scale, it can drive you nuts! Also, always weigh yourself at the same time of day with the same amount of clothing on or off, gym shoes alone will add a pound or two on my scale! Good luck!

You can't add muscle while in a caloric deficit.

try almost a month without weighout loss, when i first started.  Don't give up now. You must believe it is truly worth the hard work. It is a shock to your body and your body needs time to adjust, just like anything else in the world.  You will have bigger things to overcome in  the near future ex.  those nasty plateaus, that seem to never end no matter how hard you try.  And believe me i suffered through quite a few of those, but in the end i won!!!!! four years ago i suffered a great loss and went from 165-170 to 130 by not eating (not on purpose just no hunger), well when i got out of that crappy mode i gained it all back, then 2 years ago i really got serious and decided i was going to do it right, finally within 6-8 months went from 165 to 110.  I have been at this for two years and although i physically stopped writing everything down i eat i still do my mental calculations.  People here will tell you, you will always have a small battle with staying at a current weight.  I have been stable for 2 years and sometimes it seems easier to just lose it, rather than to keep the scale at a certain weight.  I thought it was about a certain number on the scale, it absolutely is not.  I looked great, lean and very muscular at 104-105.  but in reality for the past two years i always hover between 105-111.  That is a perfect happy medium and have accepted that.   That is all there is to it, accepting what needs to be done, doing it and knowing "when to stop before it becomes and excessive excersize ed.

Thank you for your replies. It just reminded me of what I logically know. I need to keep it up, & the results will show. I do need to watch my sodium.

What I didn't say is that I have been stuck at this plateau for months now, & I was hoping this was going to snap me out og it, but I am still confident. I really like the workouts I am doing, & I do think my body is still adjusting to the changes. The important thing is, I feel more like myself in my body these days, & I know I am healthier.

Hey Jen... My mantra is "fake it 'til you make it."  Basically, I'm going to eat and exercise the lifestyle of a trim and healthy person until I make it there.   It sounds like you're doing all the right things, so I know you'll get there.

PS... Talk about the most fun exercise program, chasing a two year old.  The little ones are so much fun.

You are right. This week I am really fighting the urge to get on the scale. I am just gonna focus on what I need to do. I think I might try lighter weights, & alternate to mix it up.
