7 weeks and worried about miscarriage

Quote  |  Reply
Hi all! I am just over 7 weeks pregnant and I am stressing about miscarriages. I never knew the statistics were so high for miscarriages and I just feel so helpless. I know that 8 weeks is a milestone, but I also know that 12 weeks is the real milestone. I have read that there is nothing that I can do really (aside from eating well, not drinking alcohol, not doing drugs, etc) to prevent miscarriage, but I am just so anxious for that first ultrasound.  I had trouble getting pregnant (I had PCOS and was not ovulating); and my hormone levels appeared low when I ovulated (in fact, the doctor called to tell me she wasn't sure I would conceive that month and did I want her to prescribe teh Clomis for the third month?), but then I was lucky enough to conceive.  Does anyone know if that means I am more likely to miscarry??  Thanks.

Dear nvyscr22 - i know this is easier said that done, but you need to relax.  you are doing everything that you possibly can do to create a wonderful environment for your baby to grow inside you - but (fortunately or unfortunately) nature just doesn't give us total control.  i personally have had two miscarriages and also two wonderful healthy children so i know, i really really know that stress and fear that you have - but honestly, you need to relax and let nature take her course.  i'll keep you in my prayers.

Worry about it isn't really going to help and if anything will make a miscarriage more likely. I can say that as I had one last year, if you have seen a scan with the baby's heart beating this is a great milestone and is the reason why most people end up miscarriaging (baby heart doesn't beat).

I know I became so absorbed by my first pregnancy and dreaded even going to the loo incase I saw soemthing bad!! Just try and stay busy, eat healhty and get walking. After that at this stage there is really nothing you can do.

When you are stressed you realise adrneline and this won't be good for your pregnancy. Get some nice music and lie down on the sofa and listen to it. Do deep breathing or anything to help you chill out more.

Good luck. Louise
