Do you weigh dressed or undressed??

Whenever I mention to people that I weigh naked they're usual response is "...why?" followed by a weird look.


Am I the only one that feels it makes since to weigh without clothes on? I have weighed both dressed and undressed during one weigh in and the difference was 2 pounds! I don't know about everyone else, but an unnecessary 2 pounds doesn't seem like it would do anyone on a weight loss mission a world of good!


Please assure me I'm not crazy!

Naked -- it gives you the most accurate estimate of how much you weigh. 

Naked no reason not to.

Since I have to track my fluid retention for medical reasons I weigh twice a day.  First thing in the morning I weigh naked.  When I get dressed I weigh again and note the weight added by my clothes.  That way when I weigh again before taking my afternoon medication, I can get an accurate reading.  This enables me to adjust medication to stay out of congestive heart failure.

Note:  I record my weight only once a week using that early morning weigh in.  Weighing frequently is hard to take because of the wide fluctuations that can happen in a single day.  You have to just look at it as a number.  The only proof of real weight loss is progress over a long period of time.  The short term is meaningless.

Most people I know do it dressed in their underwear - myself included :)

First thing in the morning - get up and go to the washroom... strip down and weigh myself right before I get in the shower (naked).  Figure thats how to see the lowest weight... hahaha.  Always puts me in a good mood for the rest of the day (if I'm doing well that is....)

I do the same as niccimax.

I usually weigh myself in my pajamas...they're lightweight, so it's not like I'm adding on the extra 5 lbs. your clothes (especially jeans) might give you, but I can also give myself the satisfaction of knowing that I'm not ridding myself of every ounce before I step on that scale.  It just gives me a greater feeling of self-esteem, like the numbers matter less.  BUT that's just me.  I think whatever works best for you is just that--what works best for you!

naked or in just undies. I want to know how much I weigh, not my clothes!

BMI, Calorie calculations, and all these silly math equations we all do for weight loss and fitness are meant for your body only, not clothes!

Most likely people with weight issues would weigh naked.   I weigh in the buff because I am looking for the lowest number I can get.  If I have a hair clip in I remove it, but I leave my necklace on. 

 

I would answer, WHY would you weigh with clothes on? Everything you wear would have a different weight, so you would never know your actual "body" weight. I have a friend who is so strict with it, she even blows her nose before getting on those scales! Now, I think that  is a bit obsessive, but I do weigh (once a week only) in the early morning, after bathroom and before eating or drinking anything. It is the only honest weight and that is what I want. I suppose if you weighed every time with the same clothes on, it would be ok, but still, I'd rather weigh naked. Is there a reason you wouldn't want to? Well, I guess if you  lived with a bunch of people and your scales were in the living room. I think I might even have something on, but it would def be the same thing every time and I would know exactly how much it weighed!

Yeah, naked or in underwear. Its the most accurate, not only for not actual weight but if I'm tracking weightloss, I'd have to wear exactly the same clothes when I weighed otherwise I couldnt really tell the accurate loss/gain...

I wake up, go potty ,then get nekkid, then weigh meself before coffee. :) You're not crazy.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???  Every morning I hear that cruel, intimidating scale calling out from under my bed.  "Psst... hey, porky!!  Come here.  Come on, I dare you.  Hop on, fat ass!!"   So I go pee, I slide the scale out from under the bed, strip down to my birthday suit, and press the button to actually bring it to life.  Then I expel every ounce of air I hold in my lungs (because all that hot air may very well weigh a fraction of an ounce), I take off my glasses (because, again, another fraction of an ounce - and I haven't put my contacts in yet - FOR THE SAME REASON), and finally I step on.  Hey, you've GOTTA use ANYTHING that can lighten the load!!  Tongue out  (Yeah, I know.  I'm a little obsessive!)

Usually in my underwear or undies and light shirt (no pants, they weight too much).

I weigh myself first thing in the morning, once a week, in nothing but my birthday suit!!!  WOO HOO

I weigh myself every morning in my pjs (tank top and very lightweight pyjama pants).  They can't possibly weigh more than half a pound and if they do, I guess I'll get a nice surprise some day. 

When I get on the scale, I want to see how much I weigh, not my clothes. The most I ever wear is my panties!
