How often do you weigh yourself?  I know it's probably supposed to be once a week or something... but every time I see the scale I think about stepping on it (at least in the morning)... How often do you weigh?

the problem is not weighing yourself everyday, the problem is your attitude about the number. if you can stand to step on the scale every morning, record your weight and forget about it for the rest of the day, then you're ok. however, if you can't accept daily fluctuations and find yourself becoming obsessed with the scale, then weiging daily is not a good idea. what works for me is weighing every morning after i use the bathroom and recording it on the calorie count weight log.. then i just follow the green trend line that comes up on the graph and go by that. whatever you choose to do keep in mind that there are better ways to track your progress that do not require a scale.. like using a measuring tape to measure your inches lost, having your body fat % tested, paying attention to how your clothes fit, noticing how much energy you have, compliments you receive, your self esteem, etc.. these are things your scale doesn't take into consideration!

remember: the MAIN goal is be to be healthy.. losing weight is just a benefit that comes along with that (it's not the priority).

good luck! :)

I used to weigh every day. I figure, even if I freak out about a fluctuation, at least I know it's a fluctuation, whereas if I was weighing every week and happened to weigh on a day with an upward fluctuation, I would tend more to think that it was weight gain rather than a fluctuation.

Now I weigh once a week because I don't really care about seeing proof for each and every pound.

Every morning, after I pee, before I shower.  Just as automatic and uneventful as brushing my teeth.

Usually every morning (unless I forget), but I only put it in the CC weight log on monday's weigh in.

My official weigh ins are at the doctor every 60 days but I typically get up and weight first thing in the morning on Saturdays just to make sure things are normal.

I agree with ohohcherri. There is no problem weighing yourself as often as you want, as long as you don't freak out over the number. I personally find it interesting to see the different fluctuations in my weight, especially when comparing it to my menstrual cycle (haha, I know this is kinda weird!). If you're going to weigh yourself everyday (I do), just make sure it's in the same conditions. For example, weigh yourself right after you wake up, before you eat/drink anything. Or if it's better for you to weigh yourself at a different time, just keep the same conditions.

I have to agree with others...its really your call when to weigh in and how often...I used to weigh in at least twice a day....now its once a week.....personally my goal is to weigh in once a month....bottom line no matter when you do it...do it the same way all the time at the same time of day under the same conditions...and dont get too excited in spikes up or down here and there.

I weigh myself in the morning or after I take a dump. :)

Really it's whatever works best for you, but I prefer to weigh myself once a day first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom. As long as you weigh yourself at a consistent time, that will give you the best results. I never weigh myself multiple times in one day because it changes based on your sweating, water/food intake, and so on.

I weigh in the morning after I've gone to the bathroom.  There are some days I don't weigh but I do record every day.  It's easier on me to see fluctuations on the graph then to go from one week to another and get frustrated not seeing what I might be expecting.

I'd say if you think about stepping on when you see it, just do it.  Even if you don't record and only do that 1x a week log you don't get haunted by the scale looming there.

It is best to weigh yourself when you wake up after you have gone to the washroom. This is the point at which you haven't eaten anything yet, and make sure you aren't wearing heavy clothing.

This will give you the most accurate reading, as you can weigh a few pounds heavier by the end of the day.

Also, a simple scale may not be as beneficial as a body fat scale. The reason for this is that if you can actually lose fat but gain weight. This occurs when your fat is replaced with lean muscle tissue, and since muscle weighs more than fat, this "apparent" weight gain can occur. So don't be upset if your weight remains the same or even increases, or doesn't drop as quickly as you thought it would.

That's me exactly. I weigh myself every morning after I go to the bathroom and log it so I can note the overall trend. My scale can be a bit wonky sometimes, and I'd rather weigh in once a day than happen to weigh in on a high fluctuation day.

I don't obsesses over the day-to-day fluctuations, though. I'm just looking at the gradual, over-all loss. :)

I weigh at about the same time every morning. I expect daily fluctuations so am able to do this without freaking out...even when my weight jumps up 2lbs in a day.

I do think I'd freak out if I only weighed once a week and saw a 2lb jump because I wouldn't know if it was water/food weight or an actual indication that my weight was going back up. 2lbs of fat gained in a week is possible where 2lbs of fat in a day just couldn't happen...that's just where my mind would go.
