Weigh Ins
With the Summer Challenge over, I created this thread for those who have the habit of reporting their weight to the Group.
Do you weigh in Daily?
Do you weigh in Weekly?
Do you weigh in Monthly?
Well, you can report your weight here without the feeling that you need to participate in a Challenge.
288.2 this morning.
Sorry that I have not been on before now. Breanna woke up in the middle of the night with a temp of 103.6. I have been trying to get (and keep) her temperature down and doing laundry for much of the day.
229.0 lbs - O lbs. loss
Zero pound loss....should be a good thing right? But considering it's been almost a month since I weighed in I'm thinking it's not such a good thing. Yes I've maintained but being stagnant is not a good thing. I need to keep moving! I have to confess that I haven't been journaling or exercising like I should. At this rate it's going to take a lifetime for me to get to goal and that's not good.
So, today I'm going to journal everything that I eat and I'm going to do at least one exercise.
I'm going to post this questionaire. I think it will help me to be accountable to you all. If you feel lead to do the same, feel free to copy and paste your answers.
PLEASE COPY, PASTE AND ANSWER THE FOLLOWING WEIGH-IN QUESTIONS:

Denna, thanks for adding the "last weigh in". I forget that there are a few of you who weigh in everyday.
I still haven't exercised today. It's a blah day for me which makes it hard for me to muster up energy to do what I need to do! Ugh!

I increased my water slightly yesterday. I most definitely decreased my Coke intake. This past month, I let my Cokes sneak upon me. Where I was drinking 160 oz of water, I had stopped drinking the water and was up to drinking 3 or 4 Cokes a day.
So basically, I am flushing my way back down to the 273.2 of 08/11.
Way to go Denna! Cutting out the soda's will definitely bring good results. For me, cutting back on sweets is an area I must overcome. Today is going to be another opportunity to have control over our flesh, yes?
Let's do it!!
~Maggie
Maggie - Did you get a chance to read CC's featured article, "Counting Added Sugar". This is a very good area for me, also. Cut back on the added sweets. But the hard thing is to separate the added sugars and the natural sugars.
But here's to trying......

Hey Maggie
Thanks for the compliments. It was April just 5 months ago that I started this journey and I have listed some of the things below that I have done. The biggest thing for me was Mcdonalds. My wife is a manager there and daughter works there also and everytime either one got off work they would call me and ask what I wanted and off course I couldn't say just fries or a sandwich but I would say Double quarter pounder with cheese large fries 2 cherry pies, large drink and a strawberry sundae twice a day and that was a snack to me, because I still ate dinner and I ate at work. Then it was nothing for my wife to buy the little debbie snacks and me to eat half a box in 2 day. My secret is none...just the things I have listed below
Here are some tips I have sent to others who have asked me. This is not for everyone, but take what will work for you and get rid of the rest.
- I do not eat anything any longer that has any type of sweetener
- added. If I want something sweet, I will eat some fruit.
- I have changed from adding salt to my foods, but use other things for seasoning.
- I do not eat anything where the fat content is half the protein or carbs.
- I try to eat low fat or fat free foods 98% of the time.
- I drink plenty of water, If I want something other than water, I use the crytal light flavor packets, which are only 5 calories each with no fat content added, so if I drink 5 of those a day it is still only 25 calories of a 16 oz drink. (They are great also because there are many flavors to choose from).
- I personally have basically stopped eating any meat. If I do it will be a taste of something my wife is eating, but no more.
- I get creative with salads and use fat free or low fat dressings. You'd be amazed at what you could do with and add to lettuce.
- I don't recommend this, but I do give myself enough or a calorie deficit each day that I eat when I want, but then it may be a piece of celery with fat free vege dip or raw broccoli with fat free ranch dressing, or I have become accustomed to rice cakes.
- I (and this may sound strange) add water now to my cherrios with splenda which is no calories and it does not taste all that different.
- If I have a pancake for breakfast, instead of using syrup or jelly, I will add a little cinnamon to the mix and it tastes just as good.
- For what I have missed in nutrients from the calorie deficit I give my self, I take mulitvitamins each day to be sure I get the proper nutrients for my day.
- I have never used the word diet or weight loss, (which is more pyschological then anything) but I am making a change of life for my health. Before when I said was going to loose weight or on a diet it never worked.
- You may want to change your calorie target to your goal weight. This way your body becomes accustomed to the calorie intake of where you want to be instead of from where you are at now.
- No more snacks or fast food period. I have not had any Mcdonalds since I got out of the hospital in April.
- These are just a few of the things I have been doing
The changes are drastic but if I wanted a change it had to be a change. I preached a sermon once titled "Nothing Changed Means Nothing Changes" 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things become new."
I don't do the things I used to do!!!
So I too have to practice what I preach lol
But I guess for me, what the biggest eye opener was when I ended up in the hospital for a mild stroke and found out I had high cholesteral and blood pressure at 48, I was determined once I got out, I was not going to come back in for the same thing. I have recovered completely from the stroke COMPLETELY and I feel alot better, so my goal is to be around for my grandchildren which is a motivation factor as well.
The notes above are what I have been sending to others who have asked me what I have been doing, so I just copy and paste it rather than type it out.
Denna ~ I did read that article. It's those darn unnatural sugars that keep calling my name!!! So today I'm determined to not eat anything with added sugar!
Mark ~ I didn't know you had suffered a mild stroke. Did I? No, I don't think I did! Gosh, what a wake up call. Better yet, what an awesome testimony! Thank you for sharing your list. I've copied and paste it for me to use as a guide line. I'm so glad that you're here to say, It can be done! If I can do it, so can you!
