I know some have said to me that it's bad to weigh daily.   Rather they say once a week is good enough so that there is not discouragment if the needle on the scale does not move.    I say that's crazy!

I know that on a safe plan I can't expect the needle to move every single day. I know that sometime the needle moves up temporarily on occasion due to temporary water retention and the like.   But I also know that each morning when I step on the scale I recommit to my reaching my goals.  SO if I do backslide I am resolved to get back into the battle.

I know that waiting a week to weigh is giving me time to imagine I'm okay just slacking a tiny bit.  During the period of time between weekly weighs I can deceive myself with promises to myself that I got plenty of time to make it up.

So I' don't want to fall into that trap.    I believe that one "Cannot expect what they don't inspect".     And a daily check is a great reminder of the mission I'm on.  It motivates me to keep going.   I think it keeps me determined to persevere.  I believe it stops a back slide from going into a total downward spiral crash landing in despair and a self abusive funk.

Anyone else think that way or am I the lone crazy person around here?

I weigh each morning, at the same time.  I like to see the small ups and the downs because it helps me see that it doesn't always reflect how I feel or what I ate.

On a "happy" good eating stretch of days, I may see it move up a little.  Then it may go down quite a bit when I least expect to lose.

The overall trend is down if I make good choices.

amen! If I start not wanting to see the scale, I know to watch out! Ups and downs don't worry me, but I want to see them 'cause it's motivating either way: if it's up, I want to be extra careful until it's down again to make sure it's just "water weight" and if it's down, I know I'm doing something right. I just don't make the dailies my official weight, every month final number is what tells me "for real" if it's going up or down....but every day keeps me honest that it TAKES every day to translate to that loss at the end of the month.

I've had to be honest with myself, that a week when I'm ignoring the scale most days, I'm probably ignoring some of the other daily, little things that mean success...or not.

I'm with you all... I weigh in every morning. Keeps me on track, and honest about little mistakes along the way.. I only enter it on the site about once a week to start seeing the trend form.
