I seriously didn't think I was going to lose anything, in fact I thought I would gain! I've been estimating calories rather than actually counting them. I guess I'm pretty good at that since I'm a cook.
I had to weigh myself twice this morning because I just couldn't believe it! If only I can get under the 50, and start seeing 49, 48, 47 now...

I KNOW that more processed food equals less weight loss with the same amount of calories consumed. I don't know if it's the sodium or the carbs or the hidden MSG or what. But for me. It is so.

I've found the same with processed foods - I think maybe it's the low fiber and low nutrient density along with the sodium and simple carbs etc. They have done studies on nutrient density and weight loss, giving one group fruit for snacks and another group the same calories and amount of fiber in oatmeal cookies. The group eating the fruit lost more weight with the same caloric intake. I don't remember exactly where I read this but I think it was in the nytimes.com health section.
Another thing to keep in mind is that processed foods usually are full of what Michael Pollan calls 'edible food-like substances', mostly highly processed corn and soy by-products like high fructose corn syrup and soy lecithin, etc. Our bodies don't know what to do with that junk!

I'm a little disappointed this week but I'm down 16 lbs total and I'm going to focus on that. At least I know that that was one pound of fat and not muscle or water.
My sister told me today..."I want you to go out and buy a 40 lb pumpkin and just see how much you have lost!!!" I thought, not a bad idea.
Almost 40 pounds gone forever! That is 5 fat little babies. That is a good sized toddler. That is 40-1 lb blocks of cheese. That is 7 - 3 lbs chickens.
I'm going to make that 40 lb mark this week!! I am determined.

My next mini goal is 280 just beause it looks so obnoxiuos on my scale! by my birthday, 12/11. That's a little over 8 weeks for 14 pounds.
Ultimate goal: 170 less than half of me, still considered obese, but at 5'9 I think its reasonable.

I have been balancing out to about 3 lbs. a week. I wasn't really happy with this for the first month, but I realize that I can keep this pace, I should be able to get close to my goal weight by the end of June, which would be awesome.
My mini goal is 255 by Halloween. So I am really trying to push for 4 lbs each week for the next two weeks...fingers crossed.
Ultimate goal: 160 - CC recommends 145, but I like having curves and I think that would be too small for my liking.

I'm going thru a plateau or something. I exercise like crazy 6 or 7 days a week eating around 1000cal less then I'm burning, and I'm lucky to lose a pound in 1 week right now. I'm going to change some of my excercise routine, and see if that helps.
