Well I finally broke through my plateau. At least I hope so. I increased my work out intensity a little, and upped my daily cals a little. I tried Dr. Al Sears idea he calls Pace. where you work out in short high intensity spurts then rest, and repeat, etc. instead of steady continuos aerobics for a long time. I bicycle, so I do spurts of hard pedaling then coast a little, instead of the constant steady pedaling for 90 minutes that I was doing. I still stay on the bike for the full 90minutes. I'll let you know as I go how it's working. So far so good.
Here's my # for this week:

Ultimate Goal: 145 by April'10
Good luck everyone on your goals this week![]()
genowg,
Congrats. I have seen other people use this strategy for working out, of using spurts of energy. The current book I'm reading says to imagine a dinosaur is chasing you so your caveman survival mode will trigger that "I really need to be thin" part of your brain. Don't know if that is just "carp" but it seems to work.
Bubbles,
Tremendous progress, I hope your scale doesn't protest next week. LOL. Maybe you were just overdue to lose some from last week?
I'm late posting mine, but I'll post my Monday weight. computer had a bug and had to go to the computer doctor.

PS I met my minigoal during this week which was 236 and I rewarded myself with a video game for my nintendo DS called Scribblenaut (now I'm totally hooked on it) and a kind of paint by the number sort of painting for grownups.
Yay me!!!
kdh,
Very respectable 2 lb loss. Yeah, it sucks to have to decrease your calorie goal, but then, it reasonably gets you to your goal. I'm betting you aren't eating that much anyway. My daily calorie goal is 1250. I eat around 1000 a day because I am not able to exercise much (especially right now while I have tendonitis in my foot and am forced to inactivity.)
Congrats.
Viraloracle,
You know that one batch of hash browns and one batch of pudding isn't 7000 calories. It's just water weight and it'll come back off quickly.
I always kick myself and think, you know I'd have lost weight if I hadn't eaten that, but, hey! we are in it for the long run and you can't expect to eat lettuce every day.
Perhaps you have staved off a plateau this week by letting your body know that there is still food out there. Not going into a famine?
genowg,
LOL. I haven't gotten to retirement, but my hubbie would understand. If we didn't have church, we'd probably lose track of the days.
Tulip's Mom,
Congrats on your weight loss, it is easy to see you are delighted and I am delighted for you.
Lluva,
That accountibility is so helpful. Two pounds is 4 cups of water. Those bad choices when we eat out (or even good calorie choices, but salt or whatever) can really take their tole. I know that first hand.
You go girl!!!!

I am trying so hard. Or rather, I should say I am struggling so hard and half drowning in this. I know it won't last forever, I KNOW I will pick myself back up, it'll just take some time. I've been dealing with a truckload of stress lately and not exercising enough. Seeing three pounds come back made my heart sink; but I wasn't at all surprised, it was inevitable for that week. I weighed myself the next day and after some light exercise and mild calorie restriction I was back down to 251.
But I haven't been the best. I've been unable to make my meals or even count calories. I'm trying to just put myself a little in front of me to eat (I even bought a tiny bowl so that it looks and feels like I am eating more when I fill it up) but it's just not enough. I'm eating again to the point of "full" and not just "satisfied". Not yet stuffing myself, but it's just a matter of time now.
I just have to take back control of this thing before it gets out of hand.
Viraloracle,
Oh, I DO understand. I had a stressful week, a week ago. It was hard to stop eating at just barely full. I have had to force myself to slow down my eating, only put a small part on my plate and eat that and wait an hour before I eat anything else. I find if I'll do that, I find I am usually full enough that I don't go looking for more to eat. I take a small bite. Set down my fork. chew my food very well. Push my food around the plate. Take and bite and repeat. I really believe that eating slowly helps me to eat less.
I tell myself, if in a hour you are still hungry you can have something else to eat and hold myself to it.
Still, yesterday we got sandwiches from Dominoes (475 for 1/2 sandwich approx) I can't stand on my feet to cook and hubby doesn't cook low cal yet.
So I ate my sandwich very slowly with a nice big glass of sugar free tea. I very much wanted to eat the other half of that sandwich. But I told hubbie...take this sandwich and put it in the icebox before I eat it. Sure enough, I was full in an hour and didn't want it anymore when it was cold.
I ate the other half later that evening toasted and kept my calories around 1100 for the day.
You will get back on track. You just have to take your eating back in hand. Try writing out your menu for the day and STICKING TO IT. Plan for snacks. You might even add a couple of hundred calories and then decrease them slowly each day til you are back on track. Don't get to feeling deprived or you will just eat and eat!!!
Hi,
I would also like to join your group. I've been reading your posts the last couple of weeks and I like how you cheer each other on. You seem like a great group.
To tell you a little about myself. I lost about 50 pounds then got pregnant. My baby was born 7 weeks ago and I'm back to working on weight loss.

My trainer weighs me every other week. I can't have a scale in the house, because I get on it several times a day and fret about the smallest gains and then go and eat something because I feel bad about the weight gain.
TW,
How nice to meet you. Of course, you are welcome to our group. Are you nursing? It makes a difference what and how you eat. Is your doctor on board for you to lose weight? I know this sounds like a dumb thing to ask, but after giving birth there are lots of considerations.
Anyway, glad to have you here. If you need anything, just holler. Congrats on what you have already lost. Take your vitamins.
Thanks for the concern Texmom, Yes I'm nursing, and my Dr.'s on board and I'm taking my vitamins. Calorie count is great because I have to account for everything I'm eating to make sure I'm getting the proper nutrition for me and the baby.
