When do you weigh yourself?

Quote  |  Reply

I am sure this question has been asked 100 times, but I haven't seen any lately, and am wondering when everyone weights herself/himself?

I am just getting back in the swing of CC and I am tempted to weight myself everyday, but I feel like that's a bad idea.  Maybe twice a week?

Also, do you weigh yourself in the morning, afternoon, evening? After you workout, before?

Thanks!

I weigh once a week, first thing in the morning, no clothes, right after using the bathroom.  I've tried weighing in more often than that but then you see every little fluctuation and it's just not worth it IMO.

I weigh every morning nude, right after waking and using the bathroom. I like to log my weight everyday to get a good trendline

I weigh every day.  Although it is stressful for some people I find that it helps keep me motivated.  Knowing what my weight is every day helps me stay within my calorie intake range daily.  I also weigh at the gym in afternoon before working out because I don't like home scales (prefer the dr office style).  So if my weight is a little higher it gives me a little boost to put more effort into my workout.  But at the same time a 1-2lb fluctuation doesn't really affect me negatively like some people.  I sort of expect it since I have eaten, drank and am clothed.  If I were to take the number on the scale more to heart then I would weigh first thing in the morning on an empty stomach without any clothes on to get the most accurate weight.  I'm also a huge fan of taking body measurements.  Sometimes it can be a bit discouraging to not see the weight come off as expected but seeing the difference in inches helps me with that issue.  Good luck.

It looks like I am in the majority of people who weigh themselves in the morning, after using the potty, in the nude. It seems to me that is the best weigh to figure out a more "true" weight. I weigh myself everyday so I can track it as well. Some people say not to but I think it helps keep me motivated if I know how my weight is being affected by the previous days diet and exercise.

I weigh daily, first thing in the morning after going to the toilet and wearing as little as possible (Cant in the nude, the scales are in the closet of the people I live with, they dont need me nekkid in there!)

I have to weigh daily or I go off track. I use gains to motivate me to stick to it all day, and losses to motivate me to do even better.

Ive been told to weigh less coz I'm a bit obsessive, but I'm all or nothing, if I quit trying so hard, I quit trying all together.

usually twice a week...wednesdays and either saturday or sunday.  as with everyone else it is in the morning, naked, after using the bathroom.  i use my weekend weigh in as my "official" weigh in and my mid-week one to keep on eye on my progress (or lack there of-esp at TTOM).

I weigh myself every morning upon going to the bathroom.  It works for me, but I understand that for others it can bring on some anxiety.

I see daily weigh-ins as a means of collecting a greater number of data points with which to view the broader trend, which is to say I try to avoid getting hung up on the daily number.  Obviously I don't like getting on the scale 7 days in a row and seeing no change (or, in the case of TTOTM, an increase), but I can nevertheless always see that my trendline is heading in the right direction!

Wednesday and Sunday mornings. My goals are set every Sunday for the following week so the wednesday weigh-in is to see if I'm on track. I weigh nude, after using the bathroom and before eating anything. I used to weigh every day but it would give me terrible anxiety so it's much better for my weight loss to weigh only twice a week.

Once a week, Sunday or Monday. In the morning, after my 30 min cardio.

The scales are in the gym in the building I live. So I can't go nude!

I only weigh once a week, because I can't handle watching the scales fluctuate a bit up and down. I don't lose weigh easily so I need to know that if I lost it, I lost it.

I weigh myself once a week and sometimes once every two weeks.  I am one of those people who can't get on the scale everyday - I will lose all motivation if I see a gain after working so hard.

When I do weigh myself it is mid-week, in the morning, after I work out.  I don't own a scale so I weigh myself at the gym.  For me (and this is a personal thing after YEARS of being fixated on the number) it is not about how much I weigh but how my clothes fit and how I feel.  I weigh myself for tracking purposes and I'm excited when I lose but I don't get hung up on the number.

I don't own a scale at home, so I weigh myself when I go to the gym. There's one of those big doctor's-office-type ones with the weights you slide on a bar at the top, and it's in the locker room. I'll hop on naked after I go to the bathroom and before putting on my gym clothes. I go to the gym anywhere from 2-5 times per week, so  this means I weigh myself fairly frequently but not every day. I also don't get too freaked out about variations of a couple of pounds because I go to the gym in the evenings and my weight can vary depending on what I've eaten and how much water I've had during the day. (In fact, occassionally I will weigh myself before  and after my workout just to remind myself of this - I'm invariably heavier afterward because of all the water I drink when I'm there!) It's the trend over time that I'm interested in.

I weigh myself every day, first thing in the morning, after going to the bathroom, before getting dressed.

But I recognize that it can vary wildly from day to day, hour to hour, phase of the moon, etc. I track Friday weights and consider Friday's number to be my "official" number for the week.

First thing in the morning.  Once a week. (Or at least I try.  I'm a little scale obsessed...unfortunately.)

I'm a little scale obsessed as well.  I weigh myself every morning, after pottie, before getting dressed just like everyone else, but I also find it really hard to walk by the scale without stepping on it.  I know that it's not a good idea, but can't seem to help myself.  For logging purposes, I only use the Friday morning weigh-in.

If I've been eating a lot lately, I don't weigh myself haha. If I'm feeling pessimistic I weigh myself whenever, wearing whatever. But when I really get down to business and I'm like HOAHHH gotta lose weight! I start weighing myself in the morning after pooping, after taking off most of my clothes =P and before eating or drinking anything.

Sometimes it's hard to wait so long cause I just want to stuff my face as soon as I get out of bed hahaha, but usually I manage :)

Every morning, nude, after peeing.  It's the most neutral time of day, to get the most "real" number.  Afterwards, too many other factors play in.   I want to see the daily fluctuations, so that I can distinguish between "normal" fluctuation and when I'm starting to get off track.

I guess I'm different than most people who posted but I actually only weigh myself about once a month. The reason being that I have read everything there is to read out there about healthy diet and exercise that I KNOW I am doing everything right for my personal goals (or if I get off track I will know that too).  Therefore, I don't need to know if I retained a bit of water and gained a pound or if I am dehydrated and weigh a little less than I should, I just need to know that I am generally comfortable, healthy, and moving in the right direction.

Once every 2 weeks now.  I'm only losing at a rate of .5 lbs per week so I don't want to feel "bad" on a weekly basis lol.  It's sloowwwww taking off the last 10!

I discovered I am at my daily lowest sometime in the early afternoon, before lunch, empty bladder, after breastfeeding. I weigh myself daily around that time.
