Ok, you all have been very helpful with my questions. I now have another one. How often should I weigh myself & when is the most accurate time of day to weigh in? I've been unable to resist the temptation to weigh in almost every time I go in the bathroom. This can be frustrating. Give me your input.

I weigh myself every morning. The reason is consistency....same scale...same time...same point in my daily food consumption and exercise. Also in the same condition meaning "naked". Easy to monitor changes up or down. All scales are slightly off and clothes make a big difference. I travel a lot and use scales in hotel exercise facilities...all over the map with accuracy or lack there of. But don't do it everytime you walk by a scale because your weight fluctuates all day and that will make you crazy.

I only count my weigh-ins once a month, otherwise it varies too much to really matter. I do weight every everymorning, but it usually is about the same.

I use a tape measure instead. Although it will vary slightly (based on food intake and time of the month) I find that if I measure when I get up, before breakfast, it consistently reflects my workouts. If I worked out quite a bit this past week, I'll have lost an inch. If I didn't work out much, I'll have lost less. I fthink it is far more motivating to say, "Another inch down! A few weeks and I can wear that pair of pants that haven't fit since..." As opposed to say, "Woohoo! Down 1.1 pounds. Average!...not that I feel I look any different..." but that's just me. I'm a bit addicted to instant gratification.

Good luck!

I weigh every morning, never any other time in the day. the key is not to get to worked up about any gains you see, it could just be water weight from something you ate. or not getting enough water etc... don't worry unless it goes up and up everyday for weeks at a time...

I weigh once a week. I can't deal with the fluctuations and, since you said it's already frusturating for you, I suggest you do once a week as well and build up to once a day if you like. Some people can see the trend. Some people go crazy. :0

It's about your preference. But, like everyone said, same time, same place, same scale, after a pee, and naked.

The key is really to weigh yourself at the same time every day for the most consistant results. Most people like to do it first thing in the morning because they will usually weigh a pound or two less than later in the day. I weigh myself each day about 7:00PM after my evening workout and then create 2 spreadsheet charts: one chart with an actual daily weight with a trend line and then one chart with a previous 5 day average which gives a much clearer picture of how the weight loss is progressing.

Everyone told me exactly what my Dr. told me. He's as this as a rail and hasn't dieted a day in his life so I wanted your input. I'm going to start weighing every morning, but only counting/logging the one on Friday morning. Thanks so mush for the input. Good luck to you all.
