weighing once a week
I'm weight in every friday morning! no more weighing in everyday! it's slowly driving me innnnsane!

I usually go everyday unless I've eaten poorly, then I give myself a few days to get back to normal.
but really, it's not the scales fault and weighing is just a tool to see if we're on the right track...
and the truth is that we have water weight fluctuations, daily and weekly.... especially the week before totm when we go up 3 - 5 - 8 - 12 lbs... or from eating salt...
i think it is important to try to understand why you are weighing more or less, what time of the month, did you eat salt... so you can take the emotions out of it...
it's not important day to day, hour to hour, even 1 week apart can be deceiving...
for me... i gain 8 - 12 lbs the 10 days before totm starts, and then if i don't overeat then i lose all of it woosh in 3 days when I start. Day 4 in the morning, after I use the restroom, before I eat is my lowest point in the month... so if I compare day 4 or so from last month to this month, I should see if I went up or down or maintained (provided I didn't use 1/2 a salt shaker on dinner the night before ;)

I have a problem with the scale..........I weigh myself numerous times during the day. I am obsessed with it. I need help. I am overweight big time and am tired of being fat! I think I have the dieting or should I say just eating the right foods and making good decisions down pat. I don't exercise as I should....I want results now. I go to the bathroom and see those scales and I get on them like a dumba$$. I then end up crying and feeling even worse about myself. How can I get motivated without looking at that number? Why do I feel I am only a number now, that is way tooooooooo high. I want so bad to be the weight I was before babies, or at least before I had my last baby 6 years ago.....135...that's all I'm asking. I'm 208 on a good day.......but today I have been around 209. HELP!!!

Its hard to motivate onesself to exercise if one is overweight-any accidients are worse- one feels so clumsy. The thing to to is to get away from the scales if they are upseting you. The last baby is now 6. Old enough you do not have to keep an eye on every movement. go to the playground (with one or two other friends of the child if your other kids are too old). Instead of standing and watching, walk around where they play while you watch. Chances you will be ready to leave before they will - lots of walking and been away from the scale for you. Dress so you could do some streches- not too weird a thing to do when you see kids so active. At least then weighing yourself when you come home will make some sense. Lots of runners do streach if there are handy areas outdoorsBuy one of those pedometers (they are so cheap they even have childrens ones) to see if the number of steps taken checks with numbers on the scale. Just encouraging your child to like activity(good for their growing bodies) is doing good even if its only usefullness to you seems be getting away from the scale. some people do find the pedometer useful to help them know they did get exercise- Hmm may be not a good idea

I used to be obsessive about weighing myself.. I'd check the scale before breakfast, after breakfast, before running, after running, before I went to bed.. it was driving me insane.
I think the best time to weigh yourself is as soon as you wake up after you go to the bathroom and before you eat anything. That supposedly is most accurate. Try to JUST weigh yourself at this time, hopefully be happy with the results and avoid checking throughout the rest of the day. If you have a day where you overeat, DON'T check the scale the next morning because it will just make you feel worse. Wait a day or 2.. and after those "good days", check in the morning.
