if your scale is standing on carpet, is it possible that it'll show a smaller number than if it was standing on a floor

most scales say not to use them on carpet, as they won't be accurate.
are you serious?
because if this is true, all the weight I "lost" hasn't really been lost...

I kind of wish I didn't just find that out... :P
Your scale can show different weights depending on the surface, tilt of the floor, etc. Just make sure that you always put it in the same place, and it will still show you weight loss, it just may not be completely accurate according to ther scales.
You'll also see more fluctuations on a carpet, which won't evenly distribute the weight the same way every time. But an overall trend will still show weight loss.
so will it still be considered weight loss if you consistently weigh yourself on a carpet?
I mean, I used to weigh myself on hardwood floors at home. I then got another scale and it said the same thing on the carpet. Is that strange?

You have to remember that a scale is sitting on top of a square metal shape that is connected to the platform with pressure springs, now if you stand off to one side it will read differently, they are not accurate, if you step on too fast, the niddle can be off by 2 - 3 pounds. Get a digital scale that measures FAT% and WATER% those will tell you the truth!

my scale is a digital scale by the way..
Ohhhhhhhhhh!!!!
huh... my scale read 5 lbs HIGHER on carpet
I think I am going to get rid of my scale...Or at least chill out with weighing myself so much. Why should I let a stupid piece of metal and plastic dictate my feelings for the day?? Even if the scale goes down and I still look the same, I feel better. If I weigh myself feeling great, and the number is higher than I like, I get bummed out. Its just not worth it.
