Weighing Yourself

Quote  |  Reply

I'm just curious what people's weighing habits are. Do you weigh yourself every day? Once a week? Before bed? After your morning pee?

Personally, I'm a once a day, after my morning pee type of girl.

About once a month

I try to stick with once per week.  Even if I do it more often, I only log my weight on the day of my official weigh in...  I have no desire to become a slave to the scale and know enough to know that day to day fluctuations are normal.  As long as I am following my plan, I have no need to check daily.

First thing in the morning

Once per day here. I know there are fluctuations, but the weight log has a trend number, so I figure as long as that is going down, I'm good. I do admit it still drives me nuts when the scale goes up from one day to the next, though, but it's always below the trend, so that's good.
before i eat breakfast in the morining
Right now, every morning to ensure my weight doesn't fluctuate too often.  I lost my job in early October and food has been scarce.  You'd think a lack of eating would make a person lose weight, but I feared going in starvation mode since I was barely getting five hundred calories a day, and it was usually from the bit of pizza my fiance would bring home for me from work.

Fortunately I start my new job next week and once I start eating regularly again, I'll go back to weighing myself twice a week.

I try to stay with once per week, same day, that way you're not chasing the ups and downs and can watch the trend.  though sometimes I get curious and cheat.

also try to have on the same approx weight of clothing or lack therof.

This is one of those personal preference things without any "right" way. It just depends on the person. Personally, I weigh myself ever day. I am able to kind of mentally tune out the ups and downs and concentrate on the trend line. As you can see, it goes up and down a lot. And yes, mid-August through mid-September I went the wrong way! I weigh myself first thing in the morning right after a bathroom break. I don't get naked because to get accurate weight measurement, it needs to be consistent. And I don't want to have to get naked every morning in the cold house in the winter. ;-)
I am weighting every 2 weeks, Friday morning when I get to work, this way it makes me feel better when I see 3-5lbs instead of 1-3lbs weekly.
i do it after my morning pee aswell. :)

Once a week, at the gym on their fancy scale with the sliding thingies (I figure it's more accurate than a bathroom scale).

Actually I weigh myself once before the workout (this is what a use to log my 'official weight') and then again after my workout just to get a sense of how much water I'm losing through sweat... It reminds me how much water I should be drinking.

i actually step on the scale several times a day, but thats because i enjoy seeing the numbers, since i have lost over 10 pounds it makes me very happy. i only log what i see after i pee in the morning before breakfast though.
why is that every morning the number on the scale changes i want it to stay on 98lbs not move up!
Never.
I'm a : after I pee and before I eat breakfast kind of gal, every morning. as i've said b 4, yes it's obsessive...but it keeps me in line and I can experiment this way as well :D

btw...your underweight sweetheart, your BMI calculates at 16.3 for your height (at 98lbs), and 18.5 is the lowest you SHOULD be! even at 105 your still at 17.5 bmi...get to like 110, and get to a doctor...you look a bit sickly to me!

I used to weigh myself every day... I became a bit obsessed. Now I weigh myself once in two weeks or sometimes even less than that.
I'd like to do it once a week, but I get scared and it usually ends up being once every two weeks.
1.  get up, go to the b-room, pee and strip.  2-  get on the scale on the tile floor.  frown.  shrug shoulders.  get dressed  3-  go downstairs (basement), strip and get on the scale on the carpet.  a little better-  not much of a difference.  frown a little less and shrug.  get dressed and go to the gym.  4-  workout for 60-75 minutes cardio and sweat my butt off.  go to lockeroom, pee and strip (toweled).  step on scale.  kinda smile because it's a little lower than it was on the two other scales.  get dressed and go to work.  repeat monday through friday!!
me too, after I pee, that is what I read was the closest to your real weight...
