weight distribution, help!

Quote  |  Reply

I've been gaining weight for a couple of months now. I'm about 20 lbs heavier than I used to be and need to gain about 20 more, but over half of that has been in the last few weeks. I've had to gain about 0.5 lb a day to be ready to go back to school. Most people would say that's too fast but I want to get back to normal life! So far most of the weight has gone to my stomach. I keep eating in hopes that eventually it will redistribute, but I hate the way I look right now! I would love to hear about other people's experiences with this. Did your weight redistribute, and if so how long did it take? How fast were you gaining weight?

almost everyone who recovers has the same problem, it's just the nature of recovery since the internal organs have to heal first!! it's only been a few months that i've been at my goal weight and my weight has redistributed but when i eat i get a pregnant belly every time. so i still get bloated when i eat and feel fat at times, but overall i look normal again. even better actually.

I gained about 30lbs in three months [I gained a little weight before that: 5lbs in two months, but I was a bit reluctant to gain].
I have been weight restored for almost two months now. I still have the same issue with bloating after I eat, but my overall body shape is a little more normal now. My weight initially all went to my stomach & hips, but now its spread to my butt, thighs and upper arms. My lower arms, hands, feet etc are still fairly bony... don't know how that works... [oh and I'm still pretty boobless :/]
But the best thing to do is to reach your goal weight and then your weight will redistribute naturally.

Right now I'm gaining about 1.5 lbs a week on 3000 cals. At first I gained much more/faster than that! I've gained 12 lbs in about 6 weeks, but the first week I barely gained, the second week I gained 5 lbs, the third 3, and then 1, and now I upped my cals and am gaining 1.5. My weight has all concentrated in my midsection(hips and breats) and I still have these skinny little arms! I'm sure it will redistribute though :) Plus I think to some extent we all think we're gaining too fast, but just try and remember the faster you gain the sooner this is over with!

it redistibutes, living proof, boobs+all, im not a teen tho so maybe ur boobs r still developing, never give up!!

Thanks for the encouragement! It seems like most people gain really slowly, but 30 lbs in 3 months and 1.5 lbs a week isn't too slow. It's good to know I'm not the only one out there. And you're right, ecwk6, the faster I gain the sooner this will be over. Sometimes I forget that and worry about gaining after I reach my goal, but I'm not there yet. It will be over eventually, I won't always be gaining. :)

Just to add- a lot of this bloat you're feeling/seeing may be imaginary, meaning, it's there, but not nearly as severe as you see it.

Kinda like how anorexics get into their position in the first place, they don't "see" themselves wasting away (or if they do, they don't see how bad it really is on the body).

Wearing flowy dresses with a waist can make you more comfortable too. It's not tight against the skin (except the waist, which helps define the body) so it helps keep your mind off of the body 24/7.

Good point. And yes, I've been wearing a lot of skirts and dresses this summer. They're good in hot weather, look a little more flattering, and I don't grow out of them as fast as I do my pants! Lol!

I also suggest not wearing jeans for a while, trying mine on for the first time was pretty triggering; they used to be baggy but now I can't even do up the button :/

skirts and dresses are definitely the way to go :D

Yup, this happened to me too. I had a tummy but tiny arms at first, but now I look normal. The only thing you can do is give it time. It probably took my body about a year to completely redistribute, but of course my weight distribution was always slowly improving during that time. Congrats on gaining! Laughing
