Weight and dress size
Heya,
Ok I have a question. Someone told me that its a drop of one dress size for every 13 pounds ya lose. Is this right? I am not sure how to search that topic up to see if its fact or not.
CIAO!

iv herd 10 lbs but you could be right
when I bought my wedding dress last year, the woman who sold it to me said it takes 10lbs to change 1 size.
I never knew that... good to know!
It's probably different depending on how tall you are and how much muscle mass you have, which is why I've heard so many different things :-P .
I know on myself, it's 10 lbs to the size, because I've weighed and measured myself obsessively enough to know :-P .

It's not really accurate. Depends on height, fat%, and water%.
I've lost 12 pounds and at 11 pounds I noticed that i needed to buy some new pants --
Wedding dress sizes should be cut out of the dress and forgotten about forever -- I had to buy a size twelve when at the time everything else in my closet was an 8

I didn't need new jeans until 18lbs were gone. But I mostly wore sweats to hide my body anyway. Everyone's different
Ok so basically when I trip on the hem of my pants its time to get new ones. Gotcha. ^_~
Measure yourself. When you've lost two inches, that's generally one size. If you also make note of your weight difference, you can know how much weight per size applies to you ^_^ .
ladydeathbird - it's so funny that you said that (...when I trip on the hem of my pants...). I noticed when I put on a pair of jeans the other day that I was having to cuff them about 2-1/2 inches and was dumbstruck as to why. I mean, pants do NOT get longer in the dryer or anything. About an hour later, it sort of dawned on me that my pants were hanging lower on my frame....making them too long. I mean, I can still "wear" them - albeit baggy in the butt and all....just means my frame is smaller.
Yeahhhh. I know the feeling my jeans are loose too. I can't wait for my
butt to really go down. That would be AWESOME. As it stands I am down
by 25 pounds. Happy...but can't wait till I lose the rest of the weight
I had gained when I first started working at a call center. That would
be about...15 pounds...yeah...I think.
Hmm.
Hmm.
From my experience, it takes 8% of your current weight to go down a size. I am basing this on how I GAINED the weight. I hope to confirm it as I lose the weight!
That means if you weigh 200, you need to lose 16 pounds to go down a size. If you weigh 150, you need to lose about 12 lbs.
I am short (5-2) and weighed 148 when I first started dieting about 6 weeks ago. I am going for a hopeful pound a week, but I will feel good it the trend is always down.
After all, I got over-weight by gaining about 5-6 pounds a year. I don't expect to lose it all in three months. As long as I go down consistantly every month I feel OK.
I lost 6 pounds, but haven't noticed any loosening of pants or anything. It's kind of a bummer, but I get by by at least knowing I am trending down instead of up (been awhile since I've seen that!)
My biggest weakness is the salty crunchy snacks from the vending machine at work. I have been having a yogurt for breakfast, and if I'm craving that salt I have a boullion cube in hot water with some lemon. That seems to satisfy me enough to resist the Cheetos.

I actually didnt lose very much at all and went down a size... I think it was 2lbs? I fluctuate alot with weight, but my size has been steadily decreasing lately. A pair of size 6 pants bought not long ago at all were just hanging on today and when I bought them I worked ot zip them. I was 139lbs the day I bought them and 136lbs today. I think alot depends on muscle gaining as well and on if your weight loss is localised to one part of the body or not.
I don't know how true that is, because I have lost 8-9 pounds and my clothes are loose (dresses too). I think it depends on how your body is.
blintoblob,
If you are having a salty craving. I eat a yogurt for lunch and I put pretzels in it. I use the fish 100 calorie packs. It actually taste's very good and it helps control my salt craving without eating bad.
Try it and let me know what you think. I have been doing it for years.

naia, you said it...it's about inches. The lbs. can differ from person to person.
