is this going to put weight on me
my mum and dad have started 2 sprinkle nestle build up powder on my food but it has been makeing me feel realy bloated and don't won't much. so does it really put weight on
This all sounds rather passive, if you don't mind the observation. Mum and Dad are sprinkling things on your food? If you need to gain weight try to get better informed on food choices and then discuss the way forward with your parents so that you're more involved in the decision-making and it's a genuine team-approach. Nestle build-up powder sounds like it might have a place in the mix... so check out the packaging, the nutrition panel and see what it contains and how it should be used. You may need to drink more fluids with it, for example, to avoid feeling bloated.
Good luck
Sorry, but if you are currently underweight / in a state of malnourishment a few sprinkles of powder here and there really isn't going to cut the mustard as far as weight gain is concerned. You need to be taking more proactive steps in your recovery. I also highly doubt that these random sprinkles are causing any bloating - that's purely psychological in my estimation.
I posted something similar to this topic a few days ago 'volume vs calories' as I was struggling with upping my calories through sheer volume alone. I do recognise you can't just eat a truck load of salad and fruit to make up calories and I have been factoring in more energy dense foods that are smaller volume e.g. sandwiches with avocado, ice cream rather than fruit dessert but I was still struggling with all the snacks etc and trying to get hungry.
I spoke with my dietician who had a similar view to ninafish - don't do little bits here and there in terms of small additions but just eat more typical fear foods e.g. pastries, nuts, chocolates etc. I don't necessarily agree with this but this was her advice..
What I have done though is go and buy trail mix and also LSA mix (linseed, soy, almonds ground up) and I now add these to my porridge/cereal/yoghurt etc. The LSA and also skim milk powder was recommended to me by my previous dietician when I first started recovery (I have to say she was great and I miss her!!!) She also said add sugar to breakfast foods as well - anything to get in calories here and there.
I do agree you need to take control of adding it though and not your parents just doing it.
Hope this is of some help??

Hey jonathan,
You'll find many wonderful people here who are more than willing to help those serious about recovery. You can look through many past threads to see that this is truly the case. We want you to get better! Have you taken a look at the "what did i eat today" thread yet? There are some great tips for weight gainers from fellow gainers on that one... Do you have any specific questions? I've already told you my thoughts on the sprinkle powder...
jonathanb12, are you serious about getting better and gaining weight? If so the powder should be of little concern and your major concern is learning how to up your calories to 3000 calories so you can GET BETTER.
We cannot support you eating less than that at this time.
